Job Role Summary

Responsible for securing safe, reliable, efficient and cost effective marine transportation to meet ExxonMobil's requirements. This may include negotiating and chartering of tanker vessels (crude, products, LNG, LPG, chemicals, and lubricants) to cover customer requirements consistent with marine chartering guidelines and coverage strategies.

Job Role Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor market trends and develop optimal marine coverage strategy. Analyze and define best marine transportation options for the Business Unit (BU).
  • Identify optimal vessel, negotiate rates and charter party terms. Negotiate Spot in/out charters, Contracts of Affreightment (COA), and short term time charters.
  • Provide market research, vessel availability and freight economics for BU, projects and commercial trading organizations.
  • Provide guidance to schedulers and voyage coordinators regarding voyage orders to chartered vessels.
  • Define all commercial and contractual details for negotiated charter party terms. Coordinate closely with BU / schedulers to nominate tonnage in a manner that will optimize system freight costs, minimize demurrage and ensure timely delivery of cargoes.
  • Network and maintain relationship with market players i.e. ship-owners, brokers, customers, and end-users to keep abreast of market developments and opportunities.

 


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in supply chain management, logistics or engineering or related field from a recognized university
  • Minimum seven years of working experience in oil and gas, marine chartering, marine operations, supply, commercial, and trading experience
    • Minimum three years of working experience in marine chartering; prefer experience with LPG / LNG chartering
    • Experience with Forward Freight Adjustment trading
  • Able to analyze market data, develop models, use derivatives and identify commercial opportunities
  • Effective negotiating skills; Good commercial judgment
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Proficient and fluent in English. Proficiency in Mandarin will be an advantage
  • Able to think independently, self-motivate, and be a team player
  • Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Able to travel at least once a quarter within Asia Pacific region
