Your team
We are looking for a Process Design Engineer to join the Design and Cost Engineering team which is part of Project Management Department at the ExxonMobil Refinery and Chemical Plants in Rotterdam. This department is part of the worldwide ExxonMobil Project Management organization and is responsible for project realization from design to completion. The projects are developed in close cooperation with the internal customers.
As Process Design Engineer you are responsible for developing a portfolio of projects. This includes developing the Project Design Basis, sizing process equipment, performing calculations and developing equipment datasheets and P&IDS in close cooperation with internal clients and discipline specialists.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the development of the Project Design Basis for projects.
• Ensure safety, operability, maintainability, constructability and reliability of the project facilities
• Working closely together with the project team, internal clients, local and international (technical) specialists and operational teams to come to an optimal Project Design Basis meeting project objectives
• Performing process design calculations, sizing process equipment, preparing heat and material balances, preparing datasheets (e.g. for pumps, drums, heat exchanger, reactors, instrumentation)
• Organize and participate in Safety, Environmental and Design reviews
• Conducting design follow up during basic and detailed engineering stages
• Participating in screening and scoping studies
• Participating in HAZOPs and safety studies
• Fulfill the role of design follow up engineer during the execution phase of a project: review of detailed design and critical purchase requisitions, and providing information to EP contractors.

Qualifications
• Bachelor or Masters of Science degree in relevant engineering discipline (such as Chemical Engineering)
• Approximately 4-10 years professional experience as process designer or process design engineer in the field of Oil & Gas or Process industry
• Longer term interest in career development in a worldwide project management organization – including assignments outside the Netherlands - with focus on process design.
• Proficient in Dutch (at least B1 level), excellent in English, both written and oral.

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills
• In-depth knowledge of Process Design methods
• Extensive knowledge of safety and construction procedures and practices. 
• Familiarity with Engineering International Practices and National/International Codes.
• Affinity with process optimization software (e.g. ProII, Aspen Plus)
