We're looking for Fixed Equipment and Inspection Engineers to join the Equipment Engineering team at the ExxonMobil Refinery and Chemical Plants in the Rotterdam Area, with possibilities to work in large projects abroad in the future.


Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Within a multidisciplinary business team you will be responsible for the development and implementation of fixed equipment strategies, including defining inspection scopes, evaluating inspection results and setting up repair scopes, in order to guarantee reliable operation of fixed equipment. When updating equipment strategies, you will regularly apply validated RBI methodology and re-evaluating the material degradation mechanisms relevant to fixed equipment. Furthermore you will work with project teams, engineering contractors and suppliers in specifying/acquiring equipment, ensuring that specifications are met and follow projects through to start-up. The Rotterdam Fixed Equipment Engineering group is ISO-IVG certified.

  • Bachelor or master degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years work experience required – preferably within an operating company or a major engineering contractor in the petrochemical or oil & gas industry
  • Inspection Certificate Level 3 (Inspectie- en Keuringsdeskundige) or in the process of obtaining such a level 3 certificate.
  • Interest in oil refinery and petrochemical operations
  • Fluent in Dutch and English


Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Well acquainted with the ”Warenwet- en Praktijkbesluit Drukapparatuur” and with design codes for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks and piping, such as PED, ASME, TEMA and API.
  • Specify design and repair requirements and establish the corresponding quality standards, supported by internal ExxonMobil guidelines.
  • Able to perform Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA) and evaluate material and mechanical defects.
