ExxonMobil PNG Limited is the operator of the US$19 billion PNG LNG Project, an integrated development that is commercializing the gas resources of Papua New Guinea. Our production operations include gas production and processing facilities, onshore and offshore pipelines and liquefaction facilities.
Our operations commenced in the middle of 2014 and we ship liquefied natural gas to customers in Asia. Our operations have the capacity to produce more than 8 million tonnes of LNG annually.

What role you will play in our team
As a Project Engineer, you will be playing a leading role for the assigned project(s), and ensures successful completion of the assigned project(s) as per Project Objectives and Strategies. As a project engineer, you will liaise with various stakeholders and are expected to leverage the functional expertise of the whole project organization to achieve safe completion of the assigned project(s).
The position is based at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
What you will do
- Delivers competitive project(s) in line with corporate, local and global processes or requirement.
- Leads and directs team members from various functions / disciplines, inclusive of business, manufacturing and others to ensure timely inputs and supports on the project execution
- Proactively anticipates project issues and executes/stewards appropriate actions to resolution.
- Supports the transition between project stages, ensuring compliance with ExxonMobil standards and processes.
- Engage in execution plans, SSHE Plan (if applicable) and contracting / procurement strategies development and implementation
- Monitor and appraise Contractor(s)' organization, planning, execution and controls, and drives improvement plans to close gaps in performance
- Supports procurement activities, including in some cases, materials requisitioning and expediting
- Responsible for contractor administration activities e.g. review of contracts and to support the preparation and negotiation of contracts with Procurement’s assistance
- Responsible for project cost, schedule, risk management and functional delivery of the project(s).
- Ensures that the planning for the project includes engineering, construction and procurement considerations, early identification of lead times and allows efficient and effective execution.
- Reviews and seeks approval for fundamental scope change requests, after promptly assessing effect on cost, schedule and risk.
- Responsible for project close-out and turnover to the operational organization
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- An engineering degree from a recognized university
- Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
- Ability to work well with others in a fast-changing environment
- Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Keep abreast of technical areas relevant to work through reading and self-development
- Ability to articulate technical issues to a non-technical audience
- Strong leadership, influencing, teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills
Experience
- 5 to 10 years industry experience through multiple function and project assignments in engineering, construction, and project services activities
- 3-5 years direct experience in project engineering and project management
- Broad knowledge of design standards, specifications, and project work processes
- Experience with capital budgeting and appropriation
- Knowledge of production facilities and a multi-discipline skill set
