ExxonMobil PNG Limited is the operator of the US$19 billion PNG LNG Project, an integrated development that is commercializing the gas resources of Papua New Guinea. Our production operations include gas production and processing facilities, onshore and offshore pipelines and liquefaction facilities.

 

Our operations commenced in the middle of 2014 and we ship liquefied natural gas to customers in Asia. Our operations have the capacity to produce more than 8 million tonnes of LNG annually.

What role you will play in our team

 

The Cost, Schedule & Controls Engineer (CSC) is a specialist in cost/schedule engineering and project controls.  To enable successful competitive outcomes, CSC engineers are fully integrated within the project teams, working closely with project development and execution resources to deliver industry leading projects.  While schedule & cost performance is owned by the project manager; the CSC engineer utilizes discipline knowledge and toolkits to provide key insights to project team and business through analysis and clear communication and supports the completion of the project per the Project Objective and Strategies (POS)

 

The position is based at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

What you will do

 

  • Provide cost, schedule estimate input into POS, Right Scope, funding reviews, execution planning strategies and overall project implementation
    • Lead screening and detailed estimate development with project / business team input
    • Lead schedule development with project / business team input; facilitate schedule workshops
    • Facilitate aggressive target setting workshops and O&V workshops
    • Champion implementation of benchmarking feedback into project basis
    • Coordinate/facilitate scope / cost tracking and timely development of estimate recast to control budget for assigned projects
  • Steward appropriated cost and schedule from early stages through execution and start up including Owner’s Cost assigned projects
    • Provide monthly status / progress reports and / or forecast updates for assigned projects 
    • Track progress on aggressive targes, analyse O&V areas; recommend corrective actions to project team
    • Champion Change Management to Preserve Value; Implement or manage PCRs/change orders
    • Provide schedule and cost inputs into contracts strategy development, contract administration and implementation
    • Lead end project benchmarking activities / feedback and support reappraisals and actual project cost data feedback
  • Support annual CAPEX and OPEX corporate planning and provide updates throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support compliance with business controls and admin. Polices within Site including support for the Project Closeout process and Final Report dev. (as applicable)
  • Provide and support function with market analysis data, innovative data management solutions and final project benchmarking data.

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • An engineering degree from a recognized university
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Proficiency in Cost Estimating, Project Planning and Project Controls
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-changing environment
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong leadership, influencing, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills

 

Experience

 

  • 5+ to 10 years industry experience through multiple function and project assignments in engineering, construction, and project services activities
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in the fields of project controls, cost, schedule, and progress measurement
  • Knowledgeable about schedule development and critical path method
  • Experience with capital budgeting and appropriation
  • Knowledge of production facilities and a multi-discipline skill set
  • Experienced with Microsoft 365 Applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Preference given to candidates that are knowledgeable with applications of Primavera 6, Microsoft Project, PowerBI, and SharePoint
