About the Permian
Straddling West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico, the Permian is the most prolific oil and gas basin in America and the engine behind the country’s energy renaissance. Nationally, it provides about 40% of oil and 15% of gas production and plays a critical role in making the U.S. a leading energy exporter.
The merger of ExxonMobil and Pioneer creates an Unconventional business with the largest, high-return development potential in the Permian Basin. The combined company’s more than 1.4 million net acres in the Delaware and Midland basins have an estimated 16 billion barrels of oil equivalent resource. In 2023, we produced, on average 612,000 barrels a day in the Permian Basin, and we're aiming to produce 1 million barrels per day from our Permian assets by the end of 2027. Investments in infrastructure from New Mexico to the Gulf Coast enhance logistics and integrated value. We've advanced gathering and processing facilities, including the Cowboy central delivery point. Integration maximizes resource development through to fuels, lubes, and chemicals. The Permian Basin business unit also has the distinction of being the first at ExxonMobil to unveil and execute a plan for net zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in operated assets by 2030, as part of the Corporation’s broader 2050 net zero ambition.

What role you will play in our team
- This role provides essential design, development, and collaborative support for technical training initiatives in oil and gas field operations. The Training Design Point of Contact is responsible for conducting task and needs analyses, and for creating accurate, engaging, and field-relevant training solutions. This includes designing digital and blended learning
- Permian (Midland Office and Highway 80 Office)
What you will do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for training design initiatives across field operations.
- Assist with comprehensive training needs analyses and job/task analyses to identify skill gaps and learning objectives.
- Design and develop field-specific training programs, including instructor-led, e-learning, and blended learning formats.
- Collaborate with SMEs to ensure technical accuracy and relevance of training content.
- Develop training materials, job aids, and assessments aligned with operational goals and safety standards.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on feedback and performance metrics.
About You
Skills and Qualifications
- Instructional Design Expertise – Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional models (e.g., ADDIE), and curriculum development.
- Technical Writing – Ability to translate complex technical content into clear, engaging learning materials.
- Project Management – Capable of managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality standards.
- Collaboration – Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with SMEs, developers, and cross-functional teams.
- Analytical Thinking – Ability to assess training needs, evaluate learning outcomes, and recommend improvements.
- Communication – Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adaptability – Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and adjusting to evolving client needs.
