What will you do?

 

 

The Instrumentation Engineer provides subject matter expertise, oversight and assistance to the instrumentation team. Demonstrates deep knowledge in electricity and in process instrumentation and automatization and has a strong knowledge of the Belgian electrical code (AREI). His/her expertise includes PLCs, transmitters, controllers, drives, motors, control cabinets, instrumentation loops, electrical loops, etc. Able to read and develop the instrumentation part of P&IDs. Subject matter expert for specific processes and procedures, including ownership, management and coordination of ATEX and Machine Directive legal and operational related matters and gas detection system. Equipment he/she will work with includes pilot plants, lab equipment and production simulation lines. He/she should have a good understanding of safety, health, and environmental requirements (SHE). He/she will be able to provide support and guidance for complex trouble-shooting, may participate in constructability and maintenance design reviews and may assist in engineering for routine maintenance or project support. He/she will have the ability to influence without authority and interact effectively with Operations and Maintenance organizations. He/she demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups and will be able to network effectively within the organization. 

 

Job Role Responsibilities

 

  • Develops work scope, cost estimates and bill of materials to ensure maintenance is conducted according to overall site or business maintenance philosophy.
  • Schedules personnel, supplies and equipment availability in order to maximize efficient resource utilization in the execution of maintenance or project activities. Coordinates, as needed, work scheduling with operations and maintenance.
  • Provides oversight and supports technical execution of the instrumentation personnel in the field.
  • Implements maintenance design philosophies and project specifications for instrumentation equipment. 
  • Provides technical support during, and coordination of, risk assessments (HAZOP and HAZAMs), incident investigations and for conceptual studies prior to start of operation. 
  • Provides advice and decides in the selection of instrumentation equipment, installations, and set-ups.  
  • Supports Operations and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Supports and advises Projects team in instrumentation related items, as needed.
  • Owns, manages and coordinates ATEX related requirements and activities on-site.
  • Provides technical support, feedback and training while supporting development of the team. 
  • Shares Best Practices and provides feedback for enhancement of installations, procedures and processes.
  • Develops strong personal expertise, shares knowledge with others via networking, mentoring, etc. 
     

We are looking for candidates with:

 

  • BSc/MSc Instrumentation/Automatization Engineering or equivalent and relevant work experience.
  • Fluent in Dutch or French, and English.
  • Experience in working within the framework of a structured safety program, having actively participated in ensuring safe operations, health and safety of personnel and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Proven knowledge of practical and legal aspects of working in ATEX environments (knowledge of ATEX legislation).
  • Excellent customer relations, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Good interpersonal, supervisory and leadership skills and effective multi-cultural & virtual team work management.
  • Able to prepare and present material to business management.
  • Strong planning, analytical and organizational skills. Able to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions; think critically while evaluating problems and formulating solutions; use judgment for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively within established frameworks.
  • Able to work and deliver on tight deadlines. Organized and autonomous.
  • Experience with project management, reliability and maintenance principles, cost estimates, scheduling, cost control, procurement activities, and management relationships.
  • Used to working in an ever changing environment with a constructive and positive attitude.
  • Preferable with 8+ years of multinational company work experience.
