About the role
Located in Brussels (Machelen), our office brings together the European Technology Centre (ETC), a tech center for research and development and key business functions that drive ExxonMobil’s operations across EMEAF.
To support the growth of our Polymers and Performance Liquids businesses, we are looking for Research Technicians to join our Lab Operations Team.

What will you do
You will collaborate closely with our polymer and performance liquids customer and application teams in the development of sustainable solutions to meet our customers and society’s needs. Positions are available in the following areas:
• Performance Testing: Conduct mechanical, physical, and analytical tests on flexible packaging, diverse rigid and semi-rigid applications and performance liquids (e.g., solvents, alcohols) solutions.
• Fabrication Operations: Prepare and process polymer formulations using state of the art fabrication techniques and equipment, including compounders, injection molding units, extruders, and packaging systems, to produce samples for testing and development.
• Advanced Testing: Perform in-depth analytical and physical evaluations of a wide range of products and solutions using advanced techniques such as NMR, GC, IR, and more.
Where you are expected to
• Adhere to operational integrity by consistently following safety protocols, quality standards, and compliance requirements
• Analyze and report data/ findings clearly and promptly, documenting all relevant data for effective use across the organization
• Maintain open and effective communication with scientists, engineers, and team members to align project goals, share updates, and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
We are looking for
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Production Technology, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong focus on safety and adherence to procedures.
• Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong observation/reporting skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork; flexibility to support colleagues when needed.
• Initiative, proactivity, and a passion for learning.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (documentation and daily interactions). Additional languages are a plus.
