The office building in Brussels (Machelen) houses ExxonMobil's regional headquarters for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA) and the European Technology Centre (ETC) for research and development.

At ETC we strive to develop and maintain state-of-the-art capabilities to advance technology in support for our businesses throughout ExxonMobil. Project topics span from the discovery of novel catalytic material for new or more efficient production processes, to the development of next generation packaging solutions maximizing recyclability, via implementation of latest analytical techniques.

 

 

To support the growth of our European Technology Center (ETC) in Brussels, we are looking for several Research Lab Technicians in different groups.

What will you do?

 

Technicians based at the European Technology Center (ETC) support various business units of ExxonMobil. Their daily work includes operating pilot units for material testing and process development activities as well as material synthesis and analytical techniques that contribute to various programs. Scope of these projects are set by the Technology organization, based on R&D or manufacturing priorities. Technology scientists and engineers work closely together with Research Technicians, providing job requests and the background.

 


As a Research Technician you will:


•    Safely operate lab equipment. This includes unit start-up, shutdown, maintenance, sample collection, data logging, conditions setting, etc.
•    Interact and collaborate with different groups and stockholders.
•    At the same time, work independently to plan and organize incoming job requests.
•    Promptly communicate the job status to requestors.
•    Generate and report high quality data.
•    Understand the importance of details, have good observation skills, and flawlessly execute activities to meet quality requirements.
•    After gaining experience, take ownership of the related equipment and propose ideas to improve safety and efficiency.
 

Who are we looking for?

 

We are looking for candidates that meet the following criteria:


•    Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Production Technology, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
•    English language proficiency at essential level (both oral and written.) Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
•    Strong focus on safety.
•    Strong observation and reporting/communication skills.
•    Team player while being able to perform independently.
•    Being flexible while willing to adhere to procedures and understand their importance in large organizations.
•    Being proactive and taking initiative.
•    Passionate to learn.
