Come be part of the Medicine and Occupational Health (MOH) Department of Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, an ExxonMobil affiliate with 28 years of presence in the country and a workforce of 499 employees. Our offices are located in Luanda.

What role you will play in our team

Country Occupational Health Manager, will join a global team of health professionals delivering occupational health services to all parts of the ExxonMobil business. The physician occupational health manager coordinates clinical activities for offshore and onshore business operations in Angola. The Occupational Health Physician provides direction/mentoring to Occupational Health Clinicians and is engaged in the delivery of clinical services to the workforce.

What you will do


Professional
 

  • Health and safety leadership across the organization
  • Delivering day to day clinical services, including sickness absence assessments / advice, pre-placement medical assessments, fitness for duty assessments, health surveillance, travel health counseling, and Medical Review Officer activities in support of the alcohol & drug testing program
  • Ensure employees have access to appropriate primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational health collaborating/ interfacing, as needed and appropriate, with HR on health benefits administration
  • Monitor public health events with the potential to impact, negatively, operations, providing timely advise on preparedness and response efforts  
  • Coordinate medical emergency response for all operating locations 
  • Interface with key stakeholders in the business and community to deliver best practice occupational health services 
     

Management
 

  • Supervise occupational health staff (clinical, industrial hygiene and administrative)
  • Recruit, train, and develop occupational health staff
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the department
  • Manage the occupational health function within agreed budget 
  • Build working relationships with the business lines, colleagues, and community partners 
     

About you


Skills and Qualifications
 

  • Be qualified to practice as a physician in Angola (Graduation)
  • Have occupational medicine experience
  • Understanding of emergency/disaster preparedness and response
  • Knowledge of public health, surveillance and disease prevention
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical, occupational, and environmental medicine
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership experience
  • Have prior experience managing teams
  • Have strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Prior Oil & Gas experience is highly desirable. 
  • Fluent Portuguese
  • English
  • Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of Occupational Medicine
