Come be part of the Law Department of Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, an ExxonMobil affiliate with 28 years of presence in the country and a workforce of 499 employees. Our offices are located in Luanda.

What role you will play in our team

Provide legal advice and guidance regarding affiliate operations

What you will do

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on all aspects of affiliate Deep Water Oil Production operations
  • Review Angola laws, regulations and affiliate-relevant contracts
  • Promote compliance with all applicable Angolan laws (and work together with SMEs on US /International legal compliance obligations)
  • Deliver general legal services and support to relevant functions in Angola
  • Collaborate with corporate headquarters and international affiliates as required

About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Law degree (Juris Doctorate or equivalent) from an accredited law school. 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience 
  • Experience in law firm or corporate legal department 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese
  • Office computing skills (Word / Excel / Powerpoint)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret upstream agreements (e.g. Production sharing agreementsç Joint Operating Agreements, etc.)
  • Competence in key legal compliance areas including Anticorruption, Antitrust / Competition Law, International Operations, Trade Laws and Export Controls Familiarity with core practice areas – labor and employment, procurement, real estate, commercial, finance, HSE, etc. 
  • Legal writing and oral communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration
