What role will you play in our team

 

You will bring expertise in carbon, renewables and associated markets, providing fundamental analysis, statistical modelling and opportunity & risk identification that supports trading, structuring, and origination activities across multiple markets. You will develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the regulatory space around renewable obligations and compliance certificates within Europe, and advise the relevant teams on optimal strategies for managing our portfolio of credits and certificates. You will also take responsibility for understanding and analysing ExxonMobil’s operations across Europe as we support the business transforming to a lower carbon future. Operations include chemical plants and refineries with onsite power production, as well as a portfolio of existing commercial agreements and future business development opportunities. 

 

What you will do

 

  • Build and maintain supply and demand balance models for the EU and UK ETS markets, working closely with our Gas, Power and Fuels analytics teams to align assumptions and generate market insights.
  • Work directly with our environmental products traders to develop ETS trading strategies, whilst minimising cost and risks for our own ETS demand requirements.
  • Help to advance our commercial strategies around European Biogas Guarantees of Origin, Power related Guarantees of Origin, and other related products, working closely with our Gas and Power Business development and Origination teams.
  • Work with regulatory experts to understand developments in the sector, and advise traders and business developers on all aspects of environmental product offerings.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of analytical tools by deploying leading-edge analytical techniques and technologies.

 

About you

 

  • Be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a numeric discipline e.g. Engineering, Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics (or hold other relevant industry experience)
  • Have previous experience in ETS and environmental products analytics, or related consultancy experience.
  • Be experienced in developing price forecasts within a trading/consultancy environment, to inform trading strategies.
  • Have experience in fundamentals analysis & advanced analytical methods, including:
    • Strong numerical, analytical and modelling skills
    • Demonstrable analytical/innovative thinking expertise, intellectual rigor, drive, and desire to lead change
    • Experience working with terminals, databases and analytical/visualisation tools
    • Established knowledge of data modelling and proficiency with Python would be beneficial but not essential
  • Be able to demonstrate:
    • Strong communication & interpersonal skills 
    • The ability to collaborate effectively with internal & external customers 
    • A creative approach to problem solving
    • The ability to work with multi-cultural global teams

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Established knowledge of data modelling and proficiency with Python
  • Experience with technical trading analysis, and translating signals from indicators into trading strategies
  • Knowledge of derivatives, including analysis of option pricing and volatility
  • Broad high-level knowledge on sectors that interact with ETS: power, refining, cement and metals
