What role you will play in our team
We are seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide Reservoir Engineering technical support and expertise to optimize asset development and operations, leveraging reservoir engineering skills in reservoir description, development planning, opportunity generation and production optimization.
We are recruiting Reservoir Simulation Engineers with 5 to 15 years' experience to join our team. The role is based in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you will work closely with our global Technical and Operations teams to support ExxonMobil’s global portfolio. The position may also require flexibility to work outside standard office hours when business needs arise, especially when coordinating with global stakeholders across multiple time zones.
What you will do
The Reservoir Simulation Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, and running dynamic reservoir models to predict reservoir performance and optimize field development plans. This role focuses on integrating surface and subsurface data into simulation models to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Develop and maintain dynamic reservoir simulation models (black oil, compositional)
- Perform history matching and uncertainty analysis
- Forecast reservoir performance under various development scenarios
- Evaluate enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and infill drilling opportunities using simulation
- Integrate geoscience and production data into simulation workflows
- Provide technical input for reserves estimation and field development planning
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high quality work deliverables
- Document and present simulation results to management and stakeholders
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline
- 5–15 years of experience in reservoir simulation and modeling
- Expertise using industry-standard simulation software such as PETREL Eclipse, IX, tNav and CMG
- Strong Reservoir Engineering technical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Preference will be given to those with the following additional skills / abilities:
- Demonstrated technical leadership and business skills and expertise to solve complex problems
- Meaningful mentoring experience
- Reservoir surveillance experience, field development and opportunity execution
- Innovative technical workflow or tool development
