What role you will play in our team
The IIT Server Engineer is responsible to install and support the Windows for Process Control (WPC) Infrastructure on the Level 3 for both Upstream and Midstream. The IIT Server Engineer will be collaborating with the business contacts from Upstream and Downstream, field engineers, Application Support team and the various EMIT teams (Windows Server, Network, UNIX, Customer Experience, Area Services). The IIT Server Engineer will also be expected to be working on projects rolling out new DEP infrastructure and provide 12x7 OnCall support about once every 1.5 months.
What you will do
- Support WPC (Windows for Process Control) infrastructure (servers, network, applications, storage) on L3 network for Hibernia, St John’s, Kearl, LaBarge, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Sakhalin, Nigeria and all the Midstream MITAS sites globally.
- Site visit maybe required for new site rollout, while others are upon request; i.e. expansion/upgrade of existing infrastructure including end-of-life refresh and troubleshoot issues with vendors and onsite engineers.
- Obtain offshore safety qualification as per country regulations (e.g. T-BOSIET, malaria training for high risk countries, MOH recommended vaccinations, etc.) for site visits.
- Base support includes:
o Conduct system health checks using Solarwinds, WinAAA, iDRAC tools and review system alerts to ensure all critical system errors or issues are attended to immediately.
o Plan and monitor server capacity growth and server end-of-life refresh to ensure high availability
o User account management on the WPC infrastructure
o License management (renew / purchase new versions) for all supported tools
o Test new WPC patches released by CSST in the lab, develop associated planning, installation, operation and upgrade documents for the patch release.
o Troubleshoot issues reported which can arise from servers, network, applications, interface connections with various systems and engage relevant teams (EOC, Network, Server Ops, Storage) to resolve - Annual & Ad-Hoc support includes:
o Participate with business in updating the site ICSR (Industrial Control System Requirements) documentation if there are new additions to the DEP environment.
o Facilitate controls activities i.e. annual access reviews, license compliance review, etc.
o Facilitate remediation of vulnerability assessment (penetration testing) findings, UIA and Audit.
o Support EMIT Network & IIT Network Engineers in network hardening activities - Be closely engaged with IIT Technical Leads to recommend process improvement to improve DEP support or take on new support opportunities during daily stand-up meetings to broaden & deepen technical knowledge
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Computer Science / Computer Engineering
- Preferably an experienced Site Admin from Server Operations or Systems Engineer from Server Engineering & Technical Support
- EM ICSR / Process Control knowledge will be an added advantage
Preferably be familiar with some of these essential skills & knowledge in order to be effective and provide immediate support:
- Familiar with WINTEL platform (OS v2008-2016, AD, DNS, TS, NTP, FTP, SMS, WSUS, SMTP)
- Familiar with batch and VB scripting. PowerShell scripting knowledge would be an added value
- Familiar with DELL server hardware including iDRAC, DELL PowerVault storage & CISCO devices
- Familiar with VMWare Virtualization, VCenter, Symantec EndPoint Protection software, SentineOne
- Familiar with ITIL processes, ITSM and Change Management processes
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Good coordination skills and time management
- Initiative and self-monitoring
Additional skills & knowledge acquired in the role includes but not limited to:
- Hardware (QNAP, Veeam backup)
- Applications (Nozomi, Solarwinds, WinWatch, WinShield)
- PI, OPC, System1, GE, PHD shadow, etc. interfacing with Windows for Process Control infrastructure
- ICSR standards & practices
- Midstream Terminal operations (understanding of Pipeline & Terminals)
