What role you will play in our team
- Part of a centralized team which will execute Overall (Production Planning) Model Validation (OMV) and (Production Performance) Lookback (LB) of a specific/integrated manufacturing site.
- Responsible for ensuring site operations are reflected well on a LP case setup; highlighting on table opportunities; suggesting path forward where applicable by closely collaborating and interfacing with site economists, coordinators and Model Improve Engineers.
- Coaching other team members and sharing your experience on work process improvements.
- This position is not limited to Malaysians only.
What you will do
We are looking for experienced individuals who will:
- Execute the monthly backcasting /lookback process, to analyze, identify opportunities and present them to the sites in order to drive improvement in molecule management and profitability.
- Make tool improvements e.g. configuration/tag changes, planning case set up improvements, model biasing, etc.
- Work closely with Site Economists to understand the opportunities identified by the lookback analysis and execute the follow ups.
- Work closely with Modeling & Optimization engineers to understand the potential gaps in planning model, investigate further and make necessary adjustments to the model.
- Perform Clean Case analysis based on historical best performance and suggest improvements and path forward by collaborating with site economists
- Perform Crude look back and highlight opportunities to optimize feedrate/slate to refineries & Chemical Plants
- Understand process improvement opportunities from Refinery- Chemicals integrations and highlight circuit level opportunities.
- Focus on delivering value for our sites within a supportive and collaborative environment
- Leverage data & analytics platform to improve work process; enhance analysis and influence business for better value capture.
- Hindsight/lookback process is intended to replace existing site lookback processes and complement current model validation work processes.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree / MSc. / MEng in Chemical Engineering.
- More than 5 years of experience working at a Refinery/Petrochemical manufacturing site, involving production planning, optimization and scheduling.
- Experienced with planning tools (e.g. Linear Programming models) and manufacturing economics knowledge.
- Prior experience in backcasting, look back process will be an added advantage
- Looking for passionate individuals with good Process Information Management System (PIMS) knowledge; inquiry-based mindset to understand site optimization and influencing ability who enjoy working in dynamic, collaborative, and diverse global teams.
- Be able to demonstrate the following:

- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural global team
- Inquiry based mindset to understand and extract key messages to drive opportunities and path forward
- Strong influencing ability
