ExxonMobil in China

 

ExxonMobil has a long history in China dating back to 1892 when its predecessor Standard Oil began marketing kerosene to light the Mei Foo lamps at Chinese homes. Huizhou Ethylene Project

 

On September 5, 2018, ExxonMobil signed a cooperation framework agreement with the Guangdong Provincial People’s Government and an initial investment agreement with Huizhou Municipal People’s Government and the Administrative Committee of Huizhou Dayawan Economic and Technological Development Zone to advance discussions concerning the proposed construction of a chemical complex in the Huizhou Dayawan Petrochemical Industrial Park. On April 22, 2020, the commencement ceremony for enabling projects of this project was held virtually and Vice Premier Han Zheng attended the event and announced the commencement of the project. In April, 2021, ExxonMobil and Sinopec Engineering Inc. signed an agreement for basic engineering design, procurement and construction of the project. In Nov. 2021, final investment decision was made to progress the chemical complex.  
 

What role you will play in our team

 

Join us in helping grow our ProxximaTM polyolefin thermoset system business. We are now commercializing in China a range of resins that have been proven in field trials to outperform the conventional materials used in polymer composites and have the ability to replace metal for structural parts used in vehicles.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven ability to engage the Chinese automotive industry. Working with both the OEMs and their suppliers you will identify and manage development opportunities through to commercialization.  You will typically have 10 years of experience in promoting thermoset composites to the automotive sector. Of particular relevance will be experience in EV battery boxes and hydrogen tanks, structural parts such as pillars and impact beams

Positions are available at both the ExxonMobil office in Shanghai and the office in Guangzhou. Working as part of the global team, strong English language skills are required.

 

What you will do

​​​​​​

  • Provide Safety / SSH&E input to project constructability plans / programs, contracting activities, and contractor selection 
  • Support / lead Project Management, EPC Contractor, and subcontractor organizations with the development and implementation of effective fit-for-purpose Safety / SSH&E plans and processes consistent with EMCAPS / OIMS, site requirements, local regulations and / or Job Specification / Coordination Procedures; and monitor program / process implementation, training
  • Assess EPC Contractor Safety / SSH&E programs against regulatory and ExxonMobil requirements, identify gaps, and advise corrective actions 
  • Provide assistance and participate in risk assessments, investigations, audits / assessments, and other Safety / SSH&E activities aimed at testing the health and enhancing the effectiveness of the Safety / SSH&E programs such as Management Commitment and Leadership, Worker Involvement, Incident Prevention, and Emergency Response / Incident Management
  • Assist with development, sharing, and implementation of safety alerts, lessons learned, and better practices 
  • Maintain construction Safety / SSH&E metrics and databases; analyze and evaluate trends, identify potential improvement opportunities, and recommend / implement performance enhancements 
  • Mentor and support Safety / SSH&E / construction personnel and professionals 
  • Interface with external construction Safety / SSH&E authorities and stay abreast of construction industry safety, health and environment advancements 

 

About you

 

  • Diploma and Bachelor degree or above in Engineering or Safety Engineering 
  • Registered safety engineers, safety professionals 
  • Demonstrated work experience in refining and/or chemicals operations in a safety leadership role. 
  • Have understanding of production principles and knowledge of refining and chemical enterprises, and be familiar with and have mastery of safety management tools; 
  • Have understanding of the relevant national laws and regulations on safety 
  • Have good communication and teamwork skills, be good at analyzing and solving problems 
  • English fluency in reading and writing 
  • Experiences in international projects, MNC or JV is an advantage
