Job Role Responsibilities

  • Comply with company safety (OIMS), control and quality systems (DIAF/GPQMS/QP&G/ISO) requirements, and continuously support lab programs improvement.
  • Lead complex investigations of test performance and equipment troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for chemical analysis, develop new test methods and troubleshoot test method steps.
  • Perform data analysis to identify and proactively address chronic compliance issues to improve overall quality assurance.
  • Interface with Process / Site Optimization Group / SSHE on adhoc sample testing requirements and aligning requirements and priority with Lab FLS and shift teams.
  • Ensure instrument/equipment operation, calibration, maintenance & statistical quality control (SQC, as applicable) maintains control.
  • Ensure data management and traceability - track sample throughput & manage data storage and handling.
  • Setup new equipment and develop operation procedures, including verification of operability, service factors and training requirements. Additionally for testing equipment this includes verification of test precision, accuracy, detection limits.
  • Manage product implementation, formulation changes and associated specifications in lab systems.
  • Establish parameters for blend optimization, monitor performance and adjust as necessary for quality and cost optimization.
  • Recommend adjustments to resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Mentors less experienced staff Skills.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with at least 3 years working experience in chemical lab.
  • Understand the test methods and fundamentals in at least one of the fields (Fuels, Olefins, Utility, Polymers or Environment).  
  • Familiar with chemical analysis and instruments such as GC, FTIR, GC-MS, ICP, spectroscopy, viscometer, rheometer, etc.
  • Strong hands-on ability, data analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiar with ISO17025/ISO9001system and accreditation. Internal auditor qualifications are preferred.
  • Excellent safety, quality assurance awareness and communication skills.
  • English and MS office proficiency.
