About Houston
ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Counsel ready to take on complex challenges within a Fortune 50 multinational corporation. You will gain a wide variety of experience, work on dynamic projects and develop value-added tax strategies. You will work with other attorneys and advisors in the Compensation and Benefits Group within the ExxonMobil Tax Department to provide legal advice and support for all aspects of Company-sponsored employee benefit and compensation programs.

What you will do
Compensation and Benefit Plan Advice
- Develop and implement planning strategies that align with business objectives through collaboration with key stakeholders
- Stay updated on employee benefit and compensation laws, policies, regulations and industry trends
- Provide legal (including tax) advice to internal clients in all areas of employee benefit and compensation law, with a primary focus on U.S. employee welfare benefits (medical, disability, life insurance and cafeteria plans) and fringe benefits
- Collaborate with other Compensation and Benefits attorneys and advisors on advice to clients supporting retirement and executive compensation plans
- Advise on all aspects of benefit-plan related processes: design, administration, income taxation, claims and appeals, litigation support
- Proactively analyze legal trends to make policy/design or tax-planning recommendations
- Understand the role of Company-sponsored benefit plans in supporting a world-wide, world-class business
- Advise on limited international benefits issues
- Draft and negotiate contract terms with third-party administrators
- Distill recent legislation and regulations into practical guidance for our internal clients
About you
We are seeking an attorney with a strong background in employee benefits, particularly in health and welfare plans, who possesses the following qualifications:
Skills and Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Strong college and law school record (top 1/3 preferred)
- 2-5 years of work experience with a law firm, corporation or agency as an attorney specializing in employee benefits
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Tax LL.M. preferred
- Technical tax and ERISA knowledge as applied to health and welfare benefit plans
- Strong project management skills
- Adds value by collaborating effectively with colleagues, clients and other support functions
- Shares knowledge to develop capabilities of the whole team
