Bachelor’s degree in relevant Geoscience, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or Data Science / Information Systems
This position will be based in Houston, TX.
Job Roles and Responsibilities

The Geoscience Technician provides data integrity and technical / application support to Geoscientists and Engineers

The Geotech should possess strong working knowledge of basic geology, an understanding of relational databases, and subsurface data management

Strong organization and communications skills are key

Experience with data modeling workflows and the ability to create scripts to automate workflows is desired
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
- Provide geoscience data integrity (data QC) and data management support that enables Geoscientists and Engineers to work more effectively
- Able to integrate multiple datasets to improve team’s ability to make business decisions
- Data analytics and visualization skills (Tableau, Spotfire, or PowerBI) including experience with dashboard development and maintenance is preferred
- Import and export spatial, well, and log data from multiple sources
- Proficient running data queries / utilizing search tools
- Gather, transfer, and load data from corporate repositories into project data stores and shared projects
- Convert, transform, reposition and reformat data from original sources and corporate repositories
- Proficient with ArcGIS
- Understanding of subsurface and/or spatial data management concepts
- Experience creating and maintaining ArcGIS Web Maps preferred
- Knowledge of Kingdom / Petra / Petrel applications is preferred
- Able to document new workflows and automate routine tasks
- Knowledge and experience utilizing Python or other scripting languages is preferred
- Generate or support the creation of geoscience maps, presentation packages, montages, logs, etc. with the ultimate goal of helping to make informed business decisions
- Generate derivative products and provide first-pass interpretation support for geoscience
- Experience producing geological figures is preferred
- Familiarity with Production and Reservoir Engineering data is useful
- Proficient in MS Office tools (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
