What role you will play in our team

 

  • As a Senior Facilities Engineer, you will provide technical guidance and support to fellow engineers and operations teams responsible for Denbury’s CO₂ EOR and conventional surface facilities across the continental United States. You will be assigned specific fields within the company’s portfolio and will leverage your expertise in facilities engineering and project management to support daily operations, lead project execution, and perform ongoing facilities surveillance.
  • In this role, you will ensure that all surface facility designs, modifications, and operations meet regulatory requirements, align with industry best practices, and support business objectives. Success requires a strong blend of technical proficiency, project management skills, and effective cross-functional collaboration. This position is based in Spring, TX.

What you will do

 

Operations Support

  • Ensure engineering controls are in place to enable safe facility operations and compliance with applicable permits and regulations. 
  • Identify causes for facility downtime and evaluate remediation
    • Regular surveillance of facilities
    • Identify issues, assess root causes, and formulate plans to address root causes
    • Participate in or lead incident investigations
  • Identify causes of facility flaring/venting and evaluate remediation
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with Operations
  • Liaison with regulatory and compliance teams 

 

Project Management and Execution

  • Steward facilities modifications
    • Document proposed changes and stakeholder engagement via Management of Change process
    • Evaluate and address risks associated with process changes (Risk Assessments, HAZOPs, FIMs workshop, etc.)
    • Maintain updated facility critical drawings and documents (P&IDs, C&Es, etc)
  • Project management of facility upgrade projects
    • Identify opportunities to optimize facility operation, de-bottleneck or reduce OPEX
    • Develop and justify capital spend to support proposed facility upgrades
    • Define project scope, budget, procurement plan, risk management and accountability of spend on projects
    • Execute project from FEED to Operations handover

 

Development and Stewardship of Surveillance Tools

  • Ensure facility process supports accurate and compliant allocations
  • Development of tools to track and report key facility metrics.
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, best practices, technologies and technical tools, and incorporate into facility designs

 

Senior Engineering Leadership

  • Leverage extensive engineering expertise and rich experiences to mentor and guide emerging engineers, fostering their growth and development
  • Evaluate innovative ideas and review drawings to assist young engineers in finding the optimal path forward
  • Actively engage in meetings to foster collaboration and generate actionable items; support the team in driving these action items to successful completion
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, best practices, technologies and technical tools and incorporate into facility designs

About You

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related field
  • 0-10 years of experience in an Oil and Gas engineering role with a focus on facilities or upstream unconventional
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and executing projects
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in Procount and Hysys with ability to model design modifications and pressure drops
  • Ability to understand/redline P&ID drawings
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders
