Job Role Summary

 

  • This role will be an Process / Chemical Engineer supporting safety relief and overpressure protection evaluations for ExxonMobil’s manufacturing facilities and capital projects. This position will be located in Spring, TX
  • The position completes flare system analysis for manufacturing facilities and participates in ongoing revalidation and maintenance of safety relief studies and database documentation (PS PPM, Salus) for manufacturing facilities

Job Role Responsibilities

 

  • Perform overpressure protection studies for ExxonMobil refineries, chemical plants, and global projects. Responsibilities include:
    • Perform engineering evaluations of Safety Relief facilities including overpressure protection devices and Flares
    • Perform contingency analysis consistent with API 520/521 and ExxonMobil company standards
    • Deliver innovative and risk-appropriate solutions for overpressure protection systems, including relief device installation and flares
    • Ensure quality of work performed and evaluate quality of work performed by junior engineers or contract resources
    • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers
    • Document completed engineering work such that others can leverage work to enable efficient future similar efforts
    • Identify opportunities to improve work processes
    • Work effectively with partners and contractors at manufacturing sites and other parts of ExxonMobil
  • Support capital project development through various project stages
    • Identify needed resources and align on safety relief review plan

Expected Level of Proficiency

 

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree 
  • Minimum of 3 years industry experience
  • Process design experience or safety relief/overpressure analysis experience
  • Knowledge of API 520/521 and API 2000

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

 

  • Working knowledge or experience in flare modeling and/or process simulation tools. 
  • Understanding of regulatory & industry standards include ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Standards & OSHA PSM regulations. 
  • Knowledge on using PROII or HYSYS, Process Safety Pressure Protection Manager or Salus, FlareNet or Visual Flow, or comparable tools is an advantage.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment or in a facilities design role is an advantage 
  • Strong initiative, drive and self-motivation skills
  • Leadership and interpersonal effectiveness skills 
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
