Risk Control Analyst/Advisor

Job Role Summary

Join ExxonMobil as a Risk Control Analyst. Become part of a team responsible for monitoring and managing the risk associated with ExxonMobil’s crude and products trading activities.  You will provide risk control analysis and reporting for global and regional activities sitting alongside commercial traders and advising daily on risk positions, value and potential risk / exposure.  This role will provide insight into commercial trading, exposure to ExxonMobil managers, and an excellent entry point to a career with ExxonMobil.

Job Role Responsibilities

• Execute daily risk control processes and risk reports; working alongside trading to manage market and operational risk
• Ensure daily data integrity, validate positions, and reconcile data inconsistencies with responsible traders
• Develop and maintain forward curves and support resolution of disagreements over applicable prices
• Monitor and report daily mark-to-market, P / L, and position matching (physical vs. paper) reports to management
• Ability to construct, analyze and validate VaR and PaR models for complex transactions; define methodology / execute periodic stress testing
• Identify exceptions to established limits and tolerances; remedy through authorizations or corrective actions
• Assist/Advise on the financial impact and risk exposure analysis of new strategies, activities or transactions
• Ensure exchange (ICE, CME, Baltic) and regulatory (MIFID, EMIR, D-F) compliance
• Maintain general knowledge, expertise and awareness in the energy trading risk management area

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 
• 2 - 5+ years of experience in energy trading, financial or energy risk management.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills Behaviors

• Advanced degree, such as a Master's, MBA, CFA, or Ph.D. in a relevant field preferred
• Attention to detail with a strong process execution focus
• Strong analytical skills, and knowledge of financial instruments
• Strong communications skills and ability to work in a fast paced trading environment
• Strong understanding of decision analysis techniques, statistical modelling and comfort in modelling issues involving risk and uncertainty
• Strong understanding of financial analyses and application to energy transacting
• Proficiency/prior experience with energy trading and risk system preferred
