What role you will play in our team

 

ExxonMobil is seeking a Production Engineer with a focus on production modeling (physics and/or data analytics based) and optimization. The position will be responsible for staying abreast of current market innovations and seeking potential applications to the upstream oil and gas business. The role will leverage relationships with industry partners and search for opportunities to add value between upstream companies. The position is located at the ExxonMobil Spring campus in Texas.  

What you will do

 

  • Perform state-of-the-art research in Upstream Oil & Gas Production Surveillance and Optimization
  • Create, develop and implement field applications with innovative solutions
  • Review, investigate and understand current market technologies and available products
  • Execute and manage projects and field research programs through team collaborations
  • Provide technical support to production units
  • Communicate and present research internally and externally

 

Research areas include:

 

  • Production surveillance and optimization workflows
  • Multiphase flow and wellbore hydraulics
  • Mathematical modeling of production systems and data analytics

About you

 

Candidates should be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results while working in a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated teamwork, communication and leadership skills are essential. 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. in Engineering: Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, or comparable disciplines required
  • Strong Programming background with Scripting experience using high-level languages (e.g. Python, C#, MATLAB)
  • Understand databases and leverage query languages to manipulate and visualize data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of technical and non-technical individuals

 

Preferred Qualifications / Experience:

 

  • Knowledge of Production System and Artificial Lift methods is preferred
  • Experience in production engineering, reservoir engineering, instrumentation & controls, facilities engineering, flow assurance, or drilling / subsurface engineering
  • Knowledge of version control (e.g. Git) is preferred
  • Leveraging new technologies (AI/Machine Learning) is a plus
