About Houston
ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.
By bringing many global functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. What role you will play in our team
As the Organization Design and Development Lead, you will be responsible for shaping and evolving the company’s organizational structure to align with strategic goals. You will lead initiatives that integrate formal structures (e.g., reporting lines, roles, spans of control) with informal dynamics (e.g., culture, networks, behaviors) to drive performance, agility, and employee engagement.
This role requires deep expertise in organizational design methodologies, change management, and the ability to apply behavioral insights, tools, and systems to optimize organizational effectiveness.
What you will do
Organizational Design
Lead org design efforts across business units including upstream, downstream, low carbon solutions, and centralized organizations
- Design and implement formal organizational models including job architecture, reporting structures, and governance frameworks
- Analyze informal networks and cultural dynamics to inform design decisions
- Lead spans and layers analysis, workforce modeling, and capability mapping
Change Management Support
- Partner with change management, HR, and business leaders to guide organization design change initiatives and ensure alignment with business strategy
- Facilitate embedding new structures and behaviors
Talent & Capability Development
- Collaborate with HR and business leaders to align talent strategies with organizational design
- Support succession planning, leadership development, and team effectiveness initiatives
- Apply behavioral science to influence leadership behaviors, team dynamics, and cultural alignment
Tools, Systems & Analytics
- Utilize organizational design tools (e.g., OrgVue) to model and visualize structures
- Leverage data to assess organizational health and effectiveness
- Maintain documentation of design processes, decisions, and outcomes
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Organizational Development, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in organizational design, development, and/or HR strategy
- Proven track record of leading complex org design initiatives in large, matrixed environments
- Strong understanding of formal and informal organizational dynamics
- Proficiency in org design tools and systems (e.g., OrgVue, Visio)
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Certification in Organizational Design (e.g., CODP) or Change Management (e.g., Prosci) is a plus

- Business Acumen: Understands the complexities of oil & gas operations and energy transition
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align design with long-term business goals
- Sensing and Behavioral Insight: Understanding of how culture and informal networks influence performance
- Systems Orientation: Skilled in using digital tools and platforms to support design work
- Influence & Collaboration: Builds trust and drives alignment across diverse stakeholders
- Analytics for Insights: Uses data to inform decisions and measure impact
