Job Role Summary

 

  • Position is within the Planning & Business Development, Merger & Acquisition (M&A)
  • The M&A group is an expanding and critical element of ExxonMobil Chemical Company’s (EMCC) growth strategy
  • The group has a portfolio of opportunities at varying stages of development; objective is to continually progress or close out opportunities and add new ones to the pipeline
  • Given the nature of the activity, the team has broad exposure to all facets of the Chemical business and high visibility and interaction with senior Management
  • Location is Houston, Texas.

Primary Job Functions

 

  • Develop early stage opportunities
    • Generate ideas and look for opportunities consistent with EMCC’s strategy
    • Analyze opportunities, build case for action and take through approval process
  • Lead transactions
    • Take opportunity through sale process from indicative bid to binding bid to Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) to Change in Control (CIC)
    • Manage internal processes – endorsements, economics, functional assessments, negotiating tactics
  • Collaborate with M&A team globally and, as needed, support M&A activity outside home region
  • Network with intermediaries (banks, Professional Engineering firms, consultants et al) to ensure business line:
    • has evaluated all potential opportunities,
    • understands the temperature of the market, and
    • has a good flow of intelligence
  • Manage external processes – due diligence, negotiations, documentation, close

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Graduate degree in Business or engineering preferred)
  • Experience in some of the following areas
    • Business development, commercial negotiations
    • Operations and technology
    • Transaction valuations/economics, due diligence and execution
  • Travel globally as needed to support projects

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

  • Experience in some of the following areas: securing organizational alignment, valuations/economics and due diligence
