ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

 

This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to lead a bold transformation journey for a company committed to streamlining global value chains under a unified enterprise resource planning environment. You will spearhead the deployment and continuous improvement of SAP’s Global Trade System (GTS), standardizing and simplifying global export and import processes across ExxonMobil’s international footprint.


As the Global Customs Lead, you will interface with business clients worldwide, aligning trade strategies to support operational excellence and regulatory compliance. You will lead the enterprise-wide Customs compliance program, organizing regional teams into a high-performing, globally coordinated function. This role demands a strategic thinker, a practical leader, and a champion of ExxonMobil’s values — someone who can turn complex challenges into actionable solutions and inspire others to deliver results.

What you will do

 

  • Develop and implement high-level plans that align trade activities with the company's business goals and market opportunities.
  • Obtain, manage, and ensure compliance with trade licenses, permits and authorizations
  • Utilize advanced data analytics and Artificial Intelligence tools to interpret complex trade data for strategic decision-making and improve operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for process optimization
  • Ensure accurate and consistent product classification and origin determinations, and improve globally applicable processes and controls for managing customs valuations
  • Optimize effective duty rate and tariff exposure globally by influencing trade flows and effectively managing and optimizing usage of free trade agreements, foreign and free trade zones, bonded storage and movement, drawback claims, and the like
  • Reduce risk and drive volume cost benefit through globally optimized broker and freight forwarder coverage network
  • Develop, sustain, and improve standardized global customs operating procedures, including special customs procedures, that improve efficiency and reduce operational risks

About you

 

Skills and Qualification

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of global Customs regulations and related laws.
  • Proficiency in using compliance management software and tools especially SAP GTS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Experience in Oil & Gas industry
  • Licensed Customs Broker
  • Experience in a multinational corporation or a global compliance role
  • Work experience in export controls, trade sanctions compliance, or controls/risk management
