You will collaborate closely with ExxonMobil Information Technology (EMIT) to understand EMBSI business processes, translate scientific and operational needs into scalable digital solutions, and ensure seamless data flow across applications, databases, and analytical platforms.

This role combines hands‑on development, workflow automation, and strategic collaboration with IT to ensure durability, compliance, and long‑term value of EMBSI’s data and digital ecosystem.  This position will be located at the ExxonMobil Houston Campus in Spring, Texas.

What you will do

Facilitate Business Process & Workflow Understanding

Solution Development & Data Integration

  • Collaborate with EMBSI scientific staff (and external contractors and internal IT resources) to design, develop, test, and deploy digital solutions that respond rapidly to organizational needs.
  • Understand the uses, limitations and connections of diverse data types—including toxicological, environmental, ecological, and commercial datasets.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources (APIs, databases, flat files, cloud platforms) using corporate-endorsed systems.
  • Build robust reference data assets with clear versioning and provenance.
  • Establish and maintain data models and schemas for raw, intermediate, and curated datasets.
  • Strive for automation by coding solutions or partnering with developers/IT to build production-ready systems.

Partnership with ExxonMobil IT (EMIT)

  • Collaborate closely with EMIT to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, supportable, and aligned with ExxonMobil Architectural Mandates.
  • Manage relationships and prioritization of EMBSI initiatives with EMIT teams.
  • Stay informed about upcoming business process or system changes and work proactively to minimize impacts on EMBSI workflows and integration pipelines.

Data Quality, Security & Operations

  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity during transfers between systems.
  • Troubleshoot data integration issues, perform root cause analyses, and implement durable fixes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data flows, system interfaces, and operational processes.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, cybersecurity, and privacy standards.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Improvement Initiatives

  • Partner with broader ExxonMobil organizations (e.g., Product Solutions, Global Operations & Sustainability) to improve data integration, reporting, and analytics capabilities.
  • Support change management initiatives that enhance efficiency—for example, improvements to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring, distribution, and chemical management processes.
