What role you will play in our team
We are seeking an experienced Cost Engineer with 3-15 years of expertise to join our dynamic global team. As a Cost Engineer, you will play a crucial role in estimating the costs of both large and small-scale projects on a global scale. You will be responsible for providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from early concept to full funding and execution. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring precise cost estimation and contributing valuable input into project scheduling.
What you will do
Cost Estimation:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for projects at various stages, including conceptual, preliminary, and definitive phases.
- Analyze project requirements and specifications to determine cost-effective solutions.
- Identify and drive optimizations in cost and execution of projects
Cost Reporting:
- Prepare and present cost reports, budgets, and financial forecasts to project teams and senior management.
- Monitor and track project costs, identifying and addressing any variances.
Risk Management:
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential cost overruns.
- Identify and evaluate potential risks that could impact project costs and timelines.
Schedule Input:
- Provide input into project schedules, ensuring that cost estimates align with project timelines and milestones.
- Collaborate with scheduling teams to integrate cost data into project schedules.
Procurement Support:
- Support the procurement process by providing cost analysis and recommendations for vendor selection.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Database Management:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of cost databases and estimation tools.
- Ensure the accuracy and currency of cost data within the databases.
Training, Support, and Continuous Improvement:
- Provide training and support to junior cost engineers and other team members on cost estimation practices and tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance cost estimation processes and methodologies.
Benchmarking:
- Conduct benchmarking studies to compare project costs against industry standards and best practices.
- Utilize benchmarking data to ensure competitive and accurate cost estimates.
- Facilitate and drive opportunities to identify and implement cost reductions and other optimizatons
Data Analysis:
- Perform detailed data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can improve cost estimation accuracy and efficiency.
- Use data analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of cost estimates and related financial information.
- Facilitate meetings and discussions to address cost-related concerns and provide updates.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:

3 – 15 years of prior experience; energy experience is preferred

Bachelor’s degree in engineering
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience in cost estimating/cost engineering
-
Proficiency in cost engineering software (e.g., ACCE, internal tools, etc.).

Strong understanding of cost estimating techniques and tools to evaluate competitiveness, including scheduling/planning, project controls/forecasting, and related topics

Expertise in risk management and mitigation strategies.

Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements in the energy sector.
Analytical Skills:

Ability to analyze complex data and generate actionable insights.

Strong problem-solving skills to address project challenges.

Proficiency in performance reporting and metrics analysis.
Behavioral Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

Experience in developing and maintaining project estimates.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Flexible to travel to project sites if needed

Geographically mobile & willing to travel and relocate globally
Preferred knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering with GPA 3.5 or above

Demonstrated work experience in oil/gas, client organizations, and mega projects

Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, MBA)
-
Demonstrated success in managing projects from early to late stages of varying sizes
-
Experience using cost estimating tools such as Aspen tech, ACCE, etc.
