What role you will play in our team

 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Public and Government Affairs Director to join our team in Guangzhou. In this role, you will lead and manage the development and execution of public relations strategies, advocacy initiatives, and government relations efforts to enhance the company’s reputation and influence within the region. You will serve as a strategic advisor, building relationships with key stakeholders, policymakers, and industry groups to support the company’s objectives and long-term growth in China. 
 

What you will do

 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive public and government affairs strategies aligned with corporate and business objectives.

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with provincial, and municipal government bodies, regulators, key policy influencers, and trade associations.

  • Monitor, analyze and interpret relevant policy, regulatory, and legislative developments; assess impact, and provide clear actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Represent the company in external meetings, forums, and public policy discussions to advance policy advocacy and corporate reputation.

  • Lead advocacy initiatives and policy communications to support long-term business growth and risk mitigation.

  • Support crisis management and issues management from a public policy and government relations perspective.

  • Manage external advisors, consultants, and industry partnerships as needed.

About you

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in public affairs, government relations, regulatory affairs, or related roles; preferably within multinational companies, oil and gas industry, or government-related organizations.

  • Established network within Guangdong government agencies and industry organizations is highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to build senior-level government relationships, and experience in engaging local and provincial authorities.

  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
