ExxonMobil in China

 

ExxonMobil has a long history in China dating back to 1892 when its predecessor Standard Oil began marketing kerosene to light the Mei Foo lamps at Chinese homes. Today, ExxonMobil’s business portfolio in China spans the full spectrum of the industry, from upstream to downstream, chemicals and technology center. 
ExxonMobil has a long-term commitment to China through investments, products, technologies and partnerships, helping meet China’s growing demand for energy and petrochemical products.
 

Natural Gas


In 2009, ExxonMobil signed long-term LNG sales and purchase agreements with PetroChina and Sinopec respectively. Four LNG ships were built at China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard to help ExxonMobil supply the LNG to China from Australia and Papua New Guinea. 
In September 2018, ExxonMobil signed a Memorandum of Understanding for LNG receiving terminal with Guangdong Provincial Energy Group. 
In April 2019, ExxonMobil signed a sales and purchase agreement with Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group for LNG supply. Under the agreement, Zhejiang Energy is expected to receive 1 million metric tons per annum of LNG over 20 years. 
On November 10, 2022, ExxonMobil signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with China Oil and Gas Pipeline Network Corporation (PipeChina). The two companies will collaborate on a number of business opportunities, including traditional oil and gas transportation, fuels and lubes, as well as low-carbon solutions development.
 

What role you will play in our team

 

  • Operational control of downstream gas portfolio, equity and/or 3P purchases (as applicable)
  • Experienced in dispatching operations and Gas Control applications and systems

 

What you will do

 

  • Manage daily supply and demand balance of supported portfolios within endorsed guidelines as part of the monthly/weekly/daily planning process

  • Execute commercial gas and capacity transactions to balance ExxonMobil's portfolio in the relevant market as per daily mandate. Take within day balancing actions and manage capacity to avoid imbalances, capacity overruns or contractual penalties

  • Ensure contractual commitments are achieved and matched

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Transporters and industry Gas Control/Dispatching centres

  • Ensure EM meets respective Transmission System scheduling and balancing obligations

  • Assist business interfaces / management with any other activity on a regular basis (e.g.: Trade Confirmations) or upon ad hoc request

  • Understand regulatory regime governing gas balancing and ensure ExxonMobil compliance with current rules of operation

  • Work involves shifts which include periodic overnight schedules

 

           Controls Responsibilities (including CIMS, OIMS & IT System Ownership):

  • The jobholder is required to understand and follow EM Firewalls principles, practices and procedures

  • Ensure compliance with in-line control procedures and ExxonMobil policies

  • Ensure all activities conform to applicable law and regulation

  • Manages ExxonMobil private and sensitive information

  • Familiar with Gas Control's Emergency Response Procedures and implement as necessary

 

About you

 

  • Good analytical skills 

  • Good IT systems knowledge, with the ability to troubleshoot and manipulate data effectively

  • Ability to make logical decisions and assess consequences/impacts of supply/demand changes

  • Understanding of the relevant industry infrastructure, gas market and network code

  • Understanding of ExxonMobil commitments towards transportation regimes

  • Proficient with the computer systems used in Gas Control activities 

  • Interpersonal skills to deal with external industry colleagues and internal staff

  • Understanding of Company control practices, DOAG, CIMS and other Company control policies
