Job Role Summary

Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited, an ExxonMobil affiliate, has one vacancy for Tax Advisor. 

Scope of Work

  • Provide tax and strategic advice on ExxonMobil’s upstream operations, based on strong knowledge of Guyana tax legislations and oil & gas industry.
  • Serve as interface with internal groups and the Guyana Revenue Authority. 
  • Review and support on Tax Compliance activities - direct and indirect taxes, as well as transfer pricing, if applicable.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Provide tax planning advice and strategic advice to ExxonMobil.
  • Review the economics of the ExxonMobil’s upstream projects and validate all Guyana tax assumptions.
  • Advise ExxonMobil’s upstream contract negotiations teams regarding tax matters.
  • Monitor, analyze, and advise on changes in the tax legislation that impact ExxonMobil’s upstream business. 
  • Support Finance in building and designing system changes, as well as, performing systems tests.
  • Review tax calculations and tax returns; support the calculation and optimization of the tax compliance process.
  • Provide Guyana tax guidance for transfer pricing related to ExxonMobil’s upstream business in Guyana
  • Review international tax treaties between Guyana and other tax jurisdictions and apply treaty benefits, if applicable, to mitigate double taxation in the transactions involving ExxonMobil’s upstream operations in Guyana.
  • Respond to inquiries and audits by the Guyana Revenue Authority and, if needed, prepare objections and appeals
  • Provide tax trainings to internal groups. 
     

Education and Experience

  • ACCA certification / Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or its equivalent is required
  • FCCA / Law Degree  is strongly preferred 
  • 10+ years of relevant tax experience advising clients operating in Guyana 
  • Experience advising oil & gas industry clients is strongly preferred 
  • Strong knowledge of Guyana tax laws 
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance activities
  • Strong knowledge of objections and appeals process
