Job Role Summary

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Procurement Associate to join our team at Fawley Refinery and Chemical Plant. The largest refinery in the UK, Fawley is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site which is located on the south coast of England, on the edge of the New Forest National Park.

Job Role Responsibilities

The Senior Procurement Associate is responsible for managing and negotiating labour contracts for manufacturing sites, with a focus upon: safety; controls; alignment with the client’s strategic objectives; vendor reliability and expense efficiency; and managing vendor relationships. The key responsibilities include:

  • Aligning with internal business clients on their requirements and strategic objectives
  • Developing appropriate procurement strategies
  • Preparing and managing tender processes, leading negotiations with vendors as required
  • Managing the awarding of contracts, including the development of terms
  • Administering contracts on an on-going basis, including preparing and implementing contract amendments
  • Managing vendor relationships on an on-going basis, including monitoring and evaluating KPIs

 

The successful candidate will work with a small on site team, which is part of the ExxonMobil Procurement organisation, reporting to the Area Procurement Manager.

 

Expected Level of Proficiency

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold an engineering degree in a discipline relevant to manufacturing operations for example, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering or an equivalent subject
  • Have relevant experience in a procurement role as a primary contact for a client, or clients, in an operational / manufacturing environment (five years+ as a guide), preferably including supervisory responsibilities or project leadership experience. Candidates with less than five years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Have strong IT skills, specifically being an experienced and competent user of Microsoft Office and SAP (financial software), or equivalent.

 

Candidates should also have demonstrated work experience and / or knowledge of:

  • Contract strategy development
  • Contract administration
  • Proactive claim management mitigation and resolution
  • Procurement processes and systems

 

Candidates who do not hold an engineering degree will also be considered where they:

  • Have a relevant trade or engineering qualification at Higher National Diploma level or above
  • Can demonstrate on-going professional development / learning over multiple years

 

Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
