Job Role Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced recruitment professional to join our in house recruitment team, leading our UK graduate and undergraduate recruitment programmes.

Job Role Responsibilities

The Recruitment Advisor is responsible for the design and delivery of ExxonMobil’s UK undergraduate placement and graduate recruitment programmes. The key responsibilities are to:

  • Strategically partner with business line hiring managers to align on recruiting requirements and advise on appropriate recruitment strategies
  • Effectively implement recruitment strategies across attraction, sourcing, assessment / selection and hiring, facilitating business line participation as required
    • Attraction: Maintaining marketing materials; coordinating university visits; and delivering events, both in house and external
    • Sourcing: Planning and running the annual Experience ExxonMobil hiring events for undergraduate placements
    • Assessment / Selection: Delivering the graduate assessment centres
    • Hiring: Facilitating business line reviews and delivery of candidate offers
  • Lead strategic improvement projects as identified in collaboration with the business line


The role will be based at our Fawley site where the successful candidate would be located alongside the site HR Business Partners. The position reports to the Senior Recruitment Advisor based in Leatherhead and works with ExxonMobil’s in house recruitment team based in the European Recruitment Centre in Prague, Czech Republic.


The largest refinery in the UK, Fawley is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site which is located on the south coast of England, on the edge of the New Forest National Park, operated by Esso Petroleum Company, Limited, and ExxonMobil Chemical Limited. 

Expected Level of Proficiency

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree
  • Be; be working towards being; or be prepared to work towards being, a Member of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, or equivalent
  • Have relevant professional experience as a recruiter or human resources professional specialising in undergraduate placement and / or graduate recruitment, preferably within an in house team (five years+ as a guide). Candidates with less than five years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant professional experience will also be considered


Candidates should also have demonstrated work experience and / or knowledge of:

  • Advising hiring managers on the design of recruitment strategies
  • Marketing of recruitment opportunities
  • Designing and delivering recruitment attraction and assessment events
  • Managing candidates through the recruitment process


Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a diverse team environment.


The role will involve frequent (anticipated to be up to 30% of the time) travel, mostly within the UK for university visits and recruitment events, as well as occassional international business trips within Europe.


Application Process Information
Applications open on 30 April 2018 and close on 27 May 2018. The first round of the interview process, which will be a telephone interview, will take place for selected candidates in June. Successful candidates will then be invited to final round interviews, comprising both technical and competency based assessments, following this.
