Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Role Summary

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our European Regional Project Centre (ERPC) team. Based at Fawley Refinery and Chemical Plant, which is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site located on the south coast of England, on the edge of the New Forest National Park, ERPC supports projects at both Fawley and ExxonMobil’s refining and chemical facilities in the broader European and Middle East Region.

Job Role Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Supervisors are responsible for setting standards and assessing the work of both internal and external quality assurance providers to ensure that equipment and material associated with projects meets the purchase specification requirements. The key responsibilities are to:

  • Provide high quality technical consulting services and expertise in the areas of:
    • Contractor screening / qualification
    • Development of quality systems and associated implementation programmes
    • Quality assurance and inspection planning
    • Quality assurance and inspection execution
  • Liaise with the third party inspection service providers and internal quality assurance teams to monitor quality assurance work, reviewing the reports submitted to promptly identify any fabrication issues. Where issues are identified, work with the wider ERPC team to support the resolution of the quality assurance issues identified.
  • Provides Non-Process Quality Control (NPQC) support for capital projects, including the review of contractor work processes, vendor deliverables and quality assurance programmes.

 

The successful candidate will work with a small team, which is part of the larger ERPC team at Fawley. There are no team members reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

 

Expected Level of Proficiency

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a relevant engineering qualification, in mechanical engineering or an equivalent subject, preferably at degree level, but as a minimum at Higher National Diploma level. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate on-going professional development / learning over multiple years.
  • Have relevant experience with pressure systems inspection, preferably in the petrochemical industry, in a lead quality assurance role.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR).
  • Have strong IT skills, specifically being: an experienced and competent user of Microsoft Office; competent in database management; and experienced with SAP systems. 

 

Candidates should also have demonstrated work experience and / or knowledge of:

  • Conducting quality assurance audits on vendors, systems and facilities.
  • Inspection requirements for project work and / or major maintenance events.
  • Non-Destructive Testing procedures and their applications, for example: positive material identification (PMI): magnetic particle inspection (MPI); ultrasonic testing (UT); and radiographic testing (RT).
  • Be familiar with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Petroleum Institute (API), European Number (EN) and National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) standards relevant to inspection / quality assurance.
  • Reviewing and working with integrated project specifications and standards.

 

The role will involve frequent (up to 50% of the time) international travel, mostly within Europe, for business trips.

 

Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.

The first round of the interview process, which will be a telephone interview, will take place for selected candidates in early December. Successful candidates will then be invited to final round interviews, comprising both technical and competency based assessments, following this.
