Introduction

ExxonMobil Engineering Europe Ltd (EMEEL) provides expert technical support and leadership to ExxonMobil and Joint Venture Refining and Chemical facilities across Europe and the Middle East for base operations, turnarounds, and major projects. Working with Project Engineers and the Project Manager, the Project Accountant ensures sound and effective financial controls are in place for individual projects. This involves performing operational transactions, financial controls (including drafting Financial Control Plans for Major Projects) and business analysis support. 

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to provide operational accounting support to the EMEEL European Regional Projects Centre (ERPC) based at Fawley Refinery. Working with Project Engineers and Project Managers, the Project Accountant ensures sound and effective financial controls are in place for individual projects. This involves performing operational transactions, financial controls (including drafting Financial Control Plans for Major Projects) and business analysis support. 

The main responsibilities include:

  • Support project teams to establish & maintain financial controls
  • Verification of engineering contractor billing for services purchased
  • Conduct Financial Risk Assessments
  • Review and periodically test financial & physical controls of ERPC
  • Complete contractual compliance testing with engineering contractors

Candidate Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Hold at least a CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Diploma in Management Accounting, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Have relevant professional experience (five years+ as a guide) of accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment in Project Accountant or Project Cost Controller / Analyst positions. Candidates with less than five years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • Have strong IT skills, specifically being an experienced and competent user of SAP and Microsoft Office – including Excel, Access and Word.
