As a contract specialist, the successful candidate will ensure that their subcontracts efficiently deliver competitive value and contribute to the site’s overall success. Reporting to the UK Area Procurement Manager, you will be part of small team of contracting professionals who advise on strategies, coordinate tenders, manage subcontract implementation and oversee supplier relationships including ongoing maintenance of the agreements.

We are currently seeking a Contracts Specialist to join our team at Fawley Refinery and Chemical Plant. The largest refinery in the UK, Fawley is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site which is located on the south coast of England, on the edge of the New Forest National Park.

What role would you play within our team.


The Contract Specialist has commercial ownership of high value service subcontracts used by Fawley’s maintenance, project and turnaround organisations, such as scaffolding, mechanical and civils work.  


The key responsibilities include:


  • Collaborating with user organisations to assess current subcontract performance and set future strategies
  • Preparing tender documents, coordinating communications and analysing subcontractor bid submissions including developing contract award recommendations
  • Maintaining purchasing data in IT systems to ensure transactions flow smoothly from requisition to invoice payment
  • Provide on-going commercial advice, contract management including claim mitigation and resolutions
  • Networking with procurement professionals from other ExxonMobil locations
  • Managing supplier relationships and business stakeholders 

Who are we looking for.


To be eligible for this role, you must:


  • Hold a 1st or 2nd class honours degree in a science based or engineering subject
  • Hold a commercial role, competent in contract law, tender procedures and commercial risk management 
  • Be a strong communicator, able to influence internal and external stakeholders and raise the profile of procurement  
  • Think strategically and be prepared to immerse yourself in execution detail
  • Work well under pressure, adapting and responding to rapidly changing business needs
  • Have strong IT and analytical skills, able to operate ERP systems, manage and gain insights from large quantities of data
