Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil is the world’s largest publicly-traded international oil and gas company, best known in the UK for its Esso and Mobil brands. The Esso Petroleum Midstream organisation in the UK is a 750 mile network of ExxonMobil owned pipeline and distribution terminals that provide fuels to our customers throughout the UK. We have five strategically positioned Terminal facilities and four Pipelines systems fed from Fawley Refinery in Hampshire.

Asset Management Planning are required to develop electrical, mechanical and fixed equipment integrity and reliability work plans than include all necessary testing and inspection requirement to ensure equipment, facilities and buildings integrity meet all relevant standards and deliver leading class reliability cost effectively.  Within this, includes spares, materials, tools and contract management.  The Lead Planning Engineer shall have a good understanding of maintenance planning as well as having suitable knowledge, skills and expertise to oversee and be accountable for the accuracy and quality of all work plans be them electrical, mechanical or fixed equipment. The Lead Engineer shall be able to appropriately utilize equipment strategies, Key Performance Indicators and specialist contractors to maximize equipment and facilities integrity and reliability.  Lead Planning Engineer shall be knowledgeable in all relevant standards and working with the appropriate Planning Engineer be able to demonstrate compliance to a Competent AuthorityThe Lead Planning Engineer supervises three planning engineers and coordinated with two Field Supervisors and Systems Lead as required. UK Cluster role, however some involvement with regional and potential global initiatives likely.

Job Role Responsibilities

Provide Asset Management equipment and facilities intervention planning and support leadership. Incumbent required to oversee Asset Management short and long term workplans and the work done by the Planning Engineers ensuring that interventions are appropriately prioritised, efficient and effective.  In addition, incumbent required manage specized work programs where expertise does not reside within the Cluster Asset Management organisation and is responsible for Key Perfomance Indicators and monthly, quarterly and annual performance stewardship. Lead Planning Engineer shall plan to spend approximately 30% of their time in the field monitoring work processes and liasing with Operations contacts helping to ensure UK Asset Management provide best in class performance.

Lead Planning Engineer will develop and maintain:

  •  Annual PADP documentation
  •  Monthly LPS Protocol documentation
  • Annual training and competence assurance plan
  • Master Work Plan Resource Pool
  • Weekly and monthly work plan endorsement
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual equipment and workplan performance KPIs
  • Annual Planning and Budgeting submission
  • Quarterly contract performance reports
  • Annual Accruals listing

Candidate Requirements

To be eligible for this role you must:

  • Hold either an engineering degree or a Higher National Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls, Civils).
  • Be, or be working towards being, a Chartered Engineer in your discipline, as defined by the relevant Institution and Engineering Council (or equivalent).
  • Have relevant project engineering experience (five years+ as a guide), preferebably in the downstream petrochemical industry, in one or more of the following areas: project development; front end engineering and early procurement activities; project execution; and / or project completion and handover. Candidates with less than five years’ experience, but who have a high degree of relevant industry experience will also be considered
  • Thorough understanding of relevant industry standards and applicable legislation, this includes but not limited to COMAH, Atex Directive 99/92 EC, SIS Directive IEC 61511, Cyber NIS Directive, Waste Electrical and Electronic Directive, Measuring Instrument Directive 2014/32/EU, Low Voltage Directive 2006/42/EC, Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/88/EU, REACH
  • Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills.
  • Effective use of standard and engineering desktop computer tools including Critical Planned Maintenance (CPM), Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Midstream Intranet applications, Uniformance DV and SAP.

Candidates should also have demonstrated work experience and / or knowledge of managing third party relationships and work delivery e.g. working with external engineering procurement companies. Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
