Mining Sales/Lube Engineer

Job Role Summary


The Mining Sales/Lube Engineer is responsible for selling Mobil Lubricants and offering technical solutions to local, regional, and multinational mining customers and / or prospects, to achieve a sales plan either directly or in conjunction with designated ExxonMobil distributors. The Mining Sales/Lube Engineer will be a home based position located in Elko, NV or Arizona and will be managing current business and new mining opportunities throughout Nevada and Arizona.

Primary Job Functions


  • Support the execution of mining sector sales strategy, implementing agreed upon account strategies.
  • Collaborative work with local Field Engineer(s) to deliver lubrication solutions to Mobil Planned Engineering Service and major customers.
  • Provide deep expertise in the mining sector, including regular guidance, coaching, and support to Field Sales & Marketing team on a local/regional/global basis to aid offer development and execution.
  • Accountable for the implementation of all field engineering service related programs within the territory of responsibility, with a focus on supporting mining customers in U.S. Central West.
  • He or she will directly support development of the required technical competencies needed to execute the marketing offers for Lubricants NA MBU and distributors working in the mining sector.
  • Responsible for business development of mining accounts in Western United States.
  • Provide deep expertise in the mining sector offer, identify suffering points at customer sites and propose solutions involving ExxonMobil products and services.
  • Liaise with the Marketing Mining sector advisor for offer development and roadmap, to include market spend use and execution.

Job Requirements


  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as Industrial Sales Advisor / Field Engineer or related experience preferable.
  • Must have prior experience working in or with mining organizations.
  • Extensive travel required including air travel.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA's)


  • Expert understanding of the Mining sector within assigned market area; includes industry fundamentals, operational  processes and conditions, lubrication applications, supply and service requirements, competitive offers.
  • Strong knowledge & understanding of the mining sector; including product & service offering, application expertise, any associated ancillary offering through distributors and/or third parties.
  • Specialized expertise in targeted applications prevalent in mining segment within scope of assignment, including mobile equipment and shovel lubrication as well as underground continuous miners (as appropriate).
  • Leadership in development of comprehensive regional supply and services agreements; may include multiple locations, coordination with Fuels Marketing, support of and input on global proposals.
  • Very strong communication and people skills.
