SE Auto Sales Representative

Job Role Summary

 

Position based in the Detroit Metro Area

 

ExxonMobil is a leading supplier of Specialty Elastomers and Vistalon™ EPDM and Santoprene™ TPV’s have been leading global brands in the market for over 40 years. The candidate will be a part of the Americas Sales team and have the overall responsibility to develop and maintain sales within Vistalon™ EPDM and Santoprene™ TPV products at existing and new accounts in North America.  The Sales Representative will be located in a home office in the Detroit Metro Area and will manage the day-to-day Specialty Elastomers Sales business, including, but not limited to managing customer accounts, working with other departments to accelerate sales growth and develop market segments, and utilize systems to document, develop, and collaborate to maintain and grow sales.  The Sales Representative reports to the Area Sales Manager, Automotive.

 
 

 

Primary Job Functions

 

  • Manage and grow accounts in the Automotive segment
  • Collaborate with ExxonMobil technology and various functions as required to accelerate sales growth
  • Maintain presence and network at relevant industry groups
  • Steward sales volumes and key highlights monthly
  • Utilize CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system to document customer visits, contacts, and pipeline growth
  • Develop and steward progress in Key account plans (Quarterly)
  • Collaborate with the OEM Managers and other sales professionals in the Detroit area
  • Develop sales plan (annual) and steward sales and margins vs. plan
  • Coordinate with ATD for new application development to maintain and grow sales at key accounts
  • Collaborate with Market Development on new grade developments for Automotive segments
  • Develop negotiation skills and knowledge of the regional market for Vistalon and Santoprene
  • Develop key account management skills

Job Requirements

 

  • B.S. Engineering or Chemistry
  • Sales experience in the Polymer industry; with Elastomers a plus
  • Ability to develop business and technical relationships
  • Estimated ~40% travel (majority in US with some in Canada and Mexico)

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

  • Good Business acumen
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Good computer skills (CRM, iPad tools, PowerPoint)
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to influence without formal authority
