Engineer will be part of the team that manages and operates the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform for internal IT customers. Team members develop platform-level automation and integration solutions that support reliable and scalable applications, while enhancing their security and cost optimization.

Job Role Responsibilities

 

- Enhance the security of the AWS cloud platform
 Participate in the design, development, deployment, and support of multi-account governance and security guardrails
 Develop and support security compliance automation and log analytics to provide management reporting of security status across ExxonMobil’s AWS platform
 Actively monitor the security status of ExxonMobil’s AWS platform, identify new risks and vulnerabilities, and take ownership of security issues to ensure speedy resolution
 Develop technical documentation on AWS security topics for account owners and application development teams
 
- Support reliable and scalable application development
 Provide technical support of ExxonMobil’s AWS platform for application development teams, including creation and maintenance of IAM roles and policies, AWS accounts, and security configurations, and assist teams with using ExxonMobil’s AWS platform
 Monitor the performance of ExxonMobil’s AWS platform to ensure reliability and availability for application development teams
 Participate in the connectivity and integration of ExxonMobil’s AWS platform with on-premises networks and systems
 Maintain technical and non-technical documentation, procedures, and diagrams that support and enable application development teams

- Enable optimization of cloud costs and efficient delivery of business solutions
 Provide technical consulting on effective cost management for application development teams, including efficient operation of AWS services and resource types, and creation of budgets, alerts, and cost management dashboards
 Develop and maintain infrastructure as code templates with built-in security configuration for commonly used AWS services and resource types

Expected Level of Proficiency

 

  •  Experience designing, building, and supporting solutions in AWS
  •  Experience working in infrastructure operations and administration activities, such as server administration, networking support, access administration
  •  Advanced skill writing infrastructure as code templates using tools like Cloud Formation and Terraform
  •  Practical knowledge of one or more of the most-used programming languages available for today’s cloud computing (e.g. PowerShell, C/C#, Python, Java/Javascript, Node.js)
  •  Working knowledge of GitHub or Azure DevOps
  •  Working knowledge of the theory, concepts, and real-world application of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), which requires familiarity with tools like AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy, and AWS CodePipeline
  •  Experience working as part of an agile team
  •      Fluent in English
