Software Test Engineer

Job Role Summary

Software Test Engineer will be responsible for front-end as well as back-end validations (SQL, unit tests etc.) including automation of a variety of heterogeneous systems including applications written in .NET, a variety of relational databases, and reporting systems. The Software Test Engineer will work closely with the existing development team in a fast-paced, AGILE development environment.

Job Role Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and executing test cases in a black box environment
• Working with development team and quality assurance team to define test plans for releases and identify areas of risk to existing functionality
• Planning, scheduling, executing, and reporting tests to validate functionality of new features
• Investigating reported operational issues, assessing risk and severity, and bug triage
• Bug validation and verification
• Collaboration with business stakeholders to ensure software meets business requirements
• Clearly communicates complex technical concepts both in a written and oral manner
• Participate in all sprint ceremonies and testing meetings

Expected Level of Proficiency

• Ability to write and comprehend complex SQL queries
• Automation experience (around 2 years) - irrespective of the tool used.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain test cases (both manual & automated)
• Ability to identify regression candidates as well as schedule regression and exploratory tests
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT from a recognized university
• Minimum of five years of experience in testing and/or software development
• Experience using black box testing methods to validate UI-User Interface and system functionality, such as web forms and workflow testing
• Hands-on experience of Agile with Kanban or Scrum frameworks and in writing Test Strategies for projects and complex programs
• Experience with bug tracking systems, test driven development, automated regression testing and familiarity with software development lifecycles
• Knowledge of Microsoft stack (SQL Server, .NET, and C#) and database concepts and SQL queries (T-SQL)
• Experience with scripting (PowerShell, ADSI) and C# programming
• Experience testing web applications using non-proprietary tools (specifically Tosca, but Selenium as alternative) will be an advantage
• Ability to write clear, concise bugs and testing reports
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
