Job Role Summary

Process Research Engineer provides technical support for manufacturing, project development and licensee based work in the area of fuels and lubes hydroprocessing.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Provide process and technical support for projects, ExxonMobil and Licensing manufacturing sites
  • Responsible for supporting catalyst selection, taking into account unit objectives, catalyst cost, and previous unit performance
  • Responsible for designing pilot plant experiments to meet project objectives
  • Responsible for feed and product analysis utilizing laboratory capabilities  
  • Responsible for data analysis and documentation   
  • Works effectively with refinery contacts, catalyst vendors, technology and business functions to evaluate and select most effective vendor and proprietary catalyst system
  • Coordinates risk value assessments for new catalyst applications 
  • Responsible for program planning, execution, and delivery, matching expectations and budget needs
  • Effectively applies work practices to progress deliverables and works effectively with others to support deployment at a commercial site
  • Identifies resources and skills to carry out technical objectives, works effectively across multiple skill levels, and mentors less experienced team members
  • Actively seeks cost effective technology solutions for refinery application, keeps abreast of internal and 3rd party technologies
  • Member of pilot plant Reliability and Continuous Improvement Team

Expected Level of Proficiency

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Understanding of solvent processes, including extraction, dewaxing and deasphalting
  • Understanding of catalytic hydroprocessing, including hydrocracking, hydrotreating, and catalytic dewaxing
  • Knowledgeable of pilot plant operation, best practices, and trouble shooting
  • Understanding of catalysts and catalytic processes
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of product quality assurance
  • Understanding of process and equipment design
  • Experience in managing projects
  • Experience in interfacing with 3rd Parties
