What Role Will You Play In Our Team

 

We are looking for an experienced Data Privacy professional working in ExxonMobil's Compliance Enablement/ Data Privacy Office, provides data privacy services to their respective ExxonMobil Affiliate on a cross functional level as in country Data Privacy Laws apply to legal entities within a jurisdiction.

 

DP services consist of making assessments of specific situations, projects, systems or contracts to identify the constraints Data Privacy legislation impose and determining how to comply with them in a cost effective and fit for risk manner. DP advice is usually provided in the form of a formal DP Assessment but may also be through informal consultations or generic advice published on the Intranet.

 

DP Advisors interact internally with EM Law, EMIT, Business and Services Lines and Audit groups as well as various leadership teams, they occasionally travel when the situation demands it.

What You Will Do

 

  • Maintain professional knowledge of DP Laws, use Data Guidance to seek additional information when needed.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments to evaluate compliance with laws, regulations, and seek additional information to the extent necessary to progress the assessment using email, phone or F2F meetings as needed.
  • Identify applicable legislation and alternative approaches to compliance, discus any alternatives with clients, Law, DP Officers and others to determine the most suitable one.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in individual assessments, projects and initiatives.
  • Identify data protection issues and risks and share insight on mitigating actions that are to be taken
  • Document the situation, conclusions and advice in keeping with DP Office guidelines.
  • Explain the conclusions, and where appropriate the reasoning behind them to the client.
  • Where necessary, escalate to EM Law and others. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve the DP Office’s work through: 
    • Simplification and automation
    • Creation of generic advice 

About You : Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Relevant legal and/or privacy qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Several years of similar business experience. 
  • Familiarity with conducting privacy risk assessmentsFluent English both spoken and written.
  • Attention to detail Solid understanding of IT in a major company covering Apps, Databases, Networks, Servers, Cloud etc 
  • An International Association of Privacy Professionals qualification (CIPP/e, CIPT etc) or willingness to study for and take one. An alternative DP qualification may be acceptable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexible to accommodate global business time zones 
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization on DP topics
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Develops solutions to problems, checking where appropriate with senior management
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to details 
  • Team player 
  • Good presentation skills
