Job Role Summary

The Global Trade Regulation group for Chemical Supply Chain is offering the Import/Export Specialist  at Brussels campus. The role will work under the direction of the EMEAF Trade Regulations Supervisor.

  • The Import/Export Specialist is responsible for oversight and execution of key processes to meet compliance standards in the areas of Import and Export regulations for the EMEAF region.  They will also be responsible for managing the Customs Agent (e.g. broker, freight forwarder) audit program.

Job Role Responsibilities

Primary Job Function:

  • Manage/Improve Customs Agent audit program and periodically assess EM import/export compliance procedures
  • Interface with 3rd party freight forwarders and brokers as well as EM Supply Chain to resolve Import/Export issues
  • Determine impact of new/changed Import/Export regulations and develop compliance procedures
  • Maintain/improve/conduct training on import/export regulations and EM processes

Expected Level of Proficiency

  • BSc University education
  • Fluency in English. Prefer Trade Regulations Advisor and FTA/HTS Specialist to speak Dutch as well.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with overseeing/developing compliance activities pertaining to the specialist role.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills to understand regulations and technical material and present information in a clear, concise manner
  • Effective leadership skills to accomplish goals across organizational and functional boundaries
  • Ability to influence others through informal leadership to develop productive internal and external networks
  • Demonstrated analysis and trouble-shooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external personnel
  • Self-motivated individual requiring minimal management over-sight.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel

Recruitment process:

If pre-selected, you will invited to an assessment test (one hour). Please, ensure you dispose of a calculator and quiet environment.

Successful candidates will be invited to the first round with representatives of Trade regulation (2 hours). Candidates with a positive evaluation will be invited to the second round to meet managers (1 hour).

Both rounds take place in our premises, in Brussels Campus (Machelen).


Candidates with positive outcome from second round will be offered a position in Trade regulation team. After obtaining a contract draft the candides are invited to introduction session, where the benefits and activities in the first month of employment are explained.
