Job Summary

Provide technical support to assigned business teams (operations and maintenance), to include but not limited to, engineering design in compliance with corporate and industry standards, specification of new equipment, troubleshooting of existing equipment, incident investigation, operations improvements, risk assessment, bad actor identification and other betterment programs, and informal operator training.

Primary Job Functions

  • Provide I/E/A technical expertise to refinery business units and the maintenance organization.
  • Support refinery business units during extended hours for startups, shutdowns, and transient operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and review of existing I/E/A programs including criticality assessments, life cycle assessments, equipment strategy development, and maintenance plans.
  • Provide technical expertise for development of new I/E/A programs, procedures and repair specifications.
  • Review, evaluate and update P&IDs, one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Provide I/E/A technical expertise to lead or support expense and capital project development (including scoping, detailed engineering, execution, QA/QC, and startup/commissioning).
  • Maintain databases and provide technical expertise for SKM Power Tools/ETAP, InTools, and similar I/E/A programs.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise for long range I/E/A infrastructure planning and improvements.
  • May serve as the site representative to the Instrument, Electrical or Process Analyzer corporate networks.

Job Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or related degree)
  • 3+ years’ engineering experience in the design, specification, installation, and startup of instrument and electrical systems.
  • Understanding of industrial instrumentation (e.g. PLCs, safety systems, transmitters, field instrumentation) and power distribution systems (e.g. motors, switchgear, cables, transformers, VFDs).
  • Conduct load flow, short circuit, harmonic, grounding, and arc-flash studies
  • Knowledge of and application experience with industry codes and standards (e.g. API RP-500, NFPA70/NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584)
  • Proficient in the use of computer software (Microsoft Office, SKM Power Tools/ETAP, InTools, Triconex TriStation 1131, Allen Bradley RSLogix).
  • Ability to work closely with team; excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
