What role you will play in our team

We are seeking an experienced research engineer with expertise in geomechanics, unconventional wells completions (hydraulic fracturing) and data analysis. Your primary focus will be studying hydraulic fracturing processes using numerical simulators. Correlate the field experimental data with numerical simulations and generate insights for improvement of completion processes. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (wells, reservoir, geoscience, data science, operations) to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing completions, enhance well productivity, and improve project economics. Your work will directly impact the success of our unconventional resource development projects.

What you will do

  • Conduct geomechanics studies related to hydraulic fracturing completions of oil and gas wells in unconventional reservoirs.
  • Utilize numerical simulators to perform fit for purpose numerical modeling to analyze fracture propagation, uniformity/asymmetry, and stress shadow size.
  • Interpret field experimental data and generate data driven insights to provide actionable recommendations to businesses.
  • Correlate the field experimental data with numerical simulations and generate insights for improvement of completion processes.
  • Plan research work for solving problem at hand, break it down into milestones and deliver research insights to stakeholders.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in current design methodologies and technologies, propose solutions and work on prioritized opportunities.
  • Scripting for automation, solving numerical problems, optimization, proxy modelling and basic GUI deployments.
  • Collaborate with reservoir, drilling, and completion teams to develop optimal fracturing procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership in geomechanics modeling and data interpretation and develop/train others.
  • Ensure safe and efficient hydraulic fracturing operations.

About You

Skills and Qualifications

  • Masters with thesis or PhD degree from a recognized university in petroleum/mechanical/civil/other geo-mechanics related engineering disciplines with minimum GPA 7.0.
  • 3+ years of research (academic or industrial) experience in geo-mechanics or solid mechanics modeling and simulation partially or fully in Upstream/Wells or related technology development.
  • Experience with Engineering Applications such as Ansys, Abaqus, Reveal, ResFrac for solving unconventional wells completions or geo-mechanics related challenges. Applications of these software outside of Oil and Gas industry will also be considered. However, experiences related to Oil and Gas industry and specifically Unconventional Wells completions through hydraulic fracturing will be preferred.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as MATLAB/Python will be preferred.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience in computational and/or data science (e.g., machine learning, optimization) will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of petroleum engineering concepts, including wells drilling, completion designs, production analysis will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrated teamwork, communication and leadership skills are essential.
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making.
