What role you will play in our team

 

We are seeking a skilled solid mechanics engineer to drive innovation and enhance our well performance across global assets. The role involves a combination of technical, analytical, and project management responsibilities to drive innovation and efficiency in upstream oil and gas operations and carbon capture and storage (CCS).

What you will do

 

  • Build computational models and simulations using proprietary and vendor tools to enhance design and operational practices and address evolving business needs. 
  • Design, build and execute parametric studies using simulation models to provide engineering design recommendations for business decisions.
  • Work with wells engineers, drilling and completion experts, computational and data scientists, and laboratory scientists across the globe to enhance understanding of subsurface technologies and tools. 
  • Create tutorials, documentation, training material or case studies.
  • Mentor other engineers to help build their technical competencies in solids/fracture mechanics and modeling.

About You

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Masters with thesis or PhD in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines with minimum GPA 7.0.
  • Minimum 3 years of research (academic/industry) experience in applying solids mechanics principles in solving business problems partially or fully in energy industry.
  • Experience in working with problems related to fracture mechanics and fracture modeling.
  • Strong Finite Element Method basics and experience with working with a Finite Element tool (ABAQUS preferred)

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

 

  • Understanding of Extended Finite Element method (XFEM) or discontinuity modeling preferred 
  • Experience in using engineering programing packages like MATLAB or python for data analytics, numerical computation and automation is preferred.
  • Experience in computational and/or data science (e.g., machine learning, optimization) will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, communication and leadership skills are essential.
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making.
