We are seeking dynamic, creative and resourceful candidates to work for ExxonMobil’s Bengaluru, India location on challenging unconventional reservoir projects in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of geophysicists, reservoir modelers, petrophysicists and reservoir engineers. Candidates will support global ExxonMobil unconventional assets.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor or Master’s degree with minimum 7.0 GPA or equivalent from a  recognized university in Earth Science, Geology, Geophysics, Engineering or Physics (or related fields) 
  • Demonstrated record of hands-on industry experience in support of  unconventional oil and gas operations; 3 - 7 years industry experience required after graduation
  • Strong computational and analytical skills
  • Willing to travel periodically, based on business needs
  • Experience with one or more analysis software suites (Petrel, Kingdom, Petra)
  • Proficiency in English and good communication skills

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Competency across geological and geophysical skills, e.g. subsurface mapping, log analysis, quantitative seismic interpretation, stratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy, and structure.
  • Integration of geologic, geophysical, and production data while mapping, formulating development plans, planning and executing drilling, including the ability to understand structure, stratigraphy and well plans in 3 dimensions.
  • Opportunity generation, maturation and stewardship of well proposals. Identifying and capturing new acreage/opportunities via primary geologic work as well as leveraging 3rd party activity and results.
  • Well planning and operations support for drilling horizontal or vertical development wells in unconventional reservoirs. The position involves working closely with drilling, land operations and reservoir engineering to achieve these goals.
  • Familiarity with operations geology, production setting, landing and geo-steering horizontal wells to keep the wellbore within the target formation while drilling.
  • Collection and interpretation of company and competitor well performance data and industry activity, assessment of trends within plays and integration of results into field development plans to improve profitability.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle high workloads, for example simultaneously steering multiple wells while planning others and rapidly applying learnings to new operations.
