What role you will play in our team

We are seeking dynamic, creative, and resourceful candidates for ExxonMobil’s Bengaluru Technology Centre, India to work on Geology opportunities in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team located in Houston, Texas and globally.

The work assignment consists of specialization in one or more of the following:

  • Pore Pressure Prediction and in-situ stress analysis,
  • Site Investigation (shallow Hazard) interpretation,

Geo-steering, Well planning/Designing, Operations Geology support

What you will do

1. Pore Pressure Prediction Specialist Responsibilities

  • In consultation with ExxonMobil’s Operations Geology group in Houston, define project objectives, work scopes and deliverables
  • Candidates will conduct applied project work integrating petrophysical data, basin modeling results, mudlogging, drilling mechanics, and geophysical data into assessments of pore pressure and stress state, ranging from wellbore specific (pre- and post-drilling) to basin-wide scale.
  • Develop sub-regional scale 3D models of pore pressure and minimum stress to support multi-well development or production drilling operations. Where possible, leverage basin-scale pore pressure interpretation broadly to impact hydrocarbon systems assessment, trap/seal constraints.

2. Well Planning and Execution Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Consult in site investigation survey design, specification of appropriate field acquisition and data processing technologies, quality standards, and deliverables. Work with geotechnical and drilling engineers to design effective mooring and foundation (drill-well and production facility) plans
  • Compile interpretive results into a Shallow Drilling Hazards Evaluation or Geohazards Assessment report, with supporting analysis, figures and maps.
  • Recommend alternate drill-well surface locations as necessary to mitigate high-risk Geohazards; recommend need for jetting or drilling structural casing, pilot hole drilling, top-hole logging, weighted drilling mud, and shallow casing setting depths.

3. Well Planning and Execution Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Design well pathways for permitted wells based on geological targets in collaboration with the geoscience team and service partners.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team (Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, Formation Evaluation, Pore Pressure Prediction, Site Investigation (Shallow hazards), Drilling, and Completions teams) to provide geological well prognoses for authorized wells.
  • Supervise and provide technical assistance to wellsite geological services (mudlogging, LWD/MWD, wireline, and coring), real-time data monitoring and interpretation. Maintain open communication with the wellsite geologists, project geologists, petrophysicists, drilling crews, and management teams.
  • Working knowledge in Geosteering of horizontal wells for proper placement of wellbore within specific targets, in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary global technical team. Stream real-time LWD/MWD and azimuthal ultra-deep resistivity data into Petrel projects and make forward-looking well path scenarios using well designer tools. Assess and analyze all available data and communicate recommendations to geo-steer successful well trajectories

About You

Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD from a recognized university in Geology, Geophysics, Engineering or Physics.
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial experience in Pore Pressure Prediction/Site Investigation/Geo-steering or Wells planning execution.

  • Pore Pressure Prediction:
  1. Hands-on industrial experience in pressure prediction and surveillance.
  2. Relevant academic research and/or hands-on industry experience in areas of hydro-geologic concepts, hydrocarbon systems analysis, drill well operations, mudlogging data interpretation and geophysical data analyses will be an advantage.

  • Site Investigation:
  1. Experience with seismic interpretation and mapping skills with a wide variety of marine engineering geophysical systems including single-beam/multi-beam echo sounder, side-scan sonar, and sub-bottom profiler.
  2. Experience with geophysical workstation-based 2D high-resolution and 3D seismic interpretation and mapping skills.
