What role you will play in our team

 

We seek to hire an experienced Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to work at ExxonMobil’s Bengaluru Technology Center (BTC) in Bengaluru, India. The candidate would be part of the BTC Marine Engineering team and provide technical support and expertise to our worldwide fleet of floating assets, drilling operations and Upstream Projects.  Key technology areas of interest include station-keeping as a primary area, hydrodynamics and motions of floating platforms as a secondary area. Candidate will receive the appropriate on-the-job opportunities in order to have a successful long-term career at ExxonMobil. Job responsibilities and desirable qualifications are listed below.  We will be interested in candidates that possess several of these target experiences and qualifications.

What you will do

 

  • Perform mooring strength and fatigue analyses for passive and thruster-assisted spread and turret moored systems.
  • Provide advice / guidance on differences between and use of various station-keeping codes (e.g. API 2SK, 2SM, 2I, ISO 19901-7, DNV E301) and assessment methods.
  • Develop environmental load cases used in mooring strength and fatigue analyses for passive and thruster-assisted spread and turret moored systems.
  • Review, interpret, and evaluate contractor-supplied mooring analyses, and identify critical parameters, guide contractor in analysis methods.
  • Provide technical guidance during the execution of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs for mooring systems and assessment of mooring anomalies.
  • Provide technical guidance during a Root Cause of Failure Analysis (RCFA) Team.
  • Provide guidance on mooring system installation, replacement, and repair.
  • Perform Drift-Off and Drive-Off analyses for dynamically positioned vessels.
  • Understands Dynamic Positioning (DP) system architecture, DP system components and system performance.
  • Sustain ExxonMobil’s culture of safety and support compliance with established safety management systems for our fleet of floating assets.
  • Mentor less experienced marine engineers

About You

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Master’s/post-graduate degree in engineering (naval architecture, ocean, structural, aerospace or a related discipline) score 70% and above (equivalent CGPA)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Naval Architecture or Integrity Management of Floating Structures.
  • Experience in the design, engineering or integrity management of FPSOs
  • Significant experience in mooring analyses of passive and thruster-assisted spread and turret moored systems.
  • Experience in hydrodynamics and motion analysis of floating platforms
  • Experienced in mathematical, statistical, and reliability analyses related to station-keeping and motions.
  • Good working knowledge in mooring hardware and related systems (i.e. winches and chain jacks) for floating structures.
  • General knowledge of floating asset types (Spar, TLP, FPSO, FSO, FSRU, FLNG) in terms of concept description, key features, application range and operations.
  • Relevant knowledge in anchor types
  • Basic knowledge in geotechnical analysis, riser systems analyses.
  • Understands dynamic concepts such as resonance, modal analysis, non-linear damping, coupled and un-coupled analyses, etc

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • Station-keeping analyses.
  • Probabilistic and statistical design methods.
  • Knowledge of metocean criteria
  • Numerical modeling of dynamics of marine floating systems.
  • Vessel motion analyses.
  • Hydrodynamics.
  • Model testing.
  • Riser analysis
  • Software (e.g. ANSYS AQWA, SeaSoft, SESAM, Orcaflex, Flexcom).
  • Strong communication, innovation, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
